Iyengar Yoga
BKS Iyengar has evolved the classical yoga postures (asanas) and breathing (pranayama)
as systematised in the treatise on yoga by the Indian sage Patanjali over 2 thousand years ago.

"Iyengar" yoga is distinguished by emphases on postural alignment, sequencing and timing. Props such as chairs, bolsters, blankets, straps, blocks, ropes and wooden benches are used to maintain alignment in the postures and so gain maximum benefit.

The use of props also enables those in pain, the aged or infirm to perform modified versions of the postures and derive yoga's therapeutic benefits.

What is Yoga?
Yoga is an holistic approach to health, affecting all systems of the body (respiratory, circulatory, nervous, endocrine, digestive, excretory and
reproductive)creating harmony and balance and integrating the physical, physiological, mental, emotional, intellectual and spiritual spheres.
