Discover your potential. Learn to move beyond your expectations using the
Feldenkrais Method. Its relaxing, its gentle and it works.

    What is the Feldenkrais Method?

The Feldenkrais Method was developed by Dr Moshe Feldenkrais after years of exploration into the relationship between movement and human behaviour. The aim of his method is “to move with minimum of effort and maximum efficiency, not through muscular strength but increased awareness of how (your) body works”.
By increasing your awareness of how you use your body, the method facilitates the discovery of easier and more pleasurable ways to move. It frees a person from habitual patterns of moving, thinking and feeling that contribute to chronic pain, stress and states of’dis-ease’.
These changes take place through retraining the central nervous system to help you move in a more efficient manner.

"‘Feldenkrais’ work is the most sophisticated and effective method I have seen for the prevention and reversal of deterioration of function”
    Margaret Mead

    How is it Taught?

The Method is taught in two ways:

    Awareness Through Movement
This is usually taught in groups, though one-on-one sessions are offered. The Feldenkrais Practitioner verbally guides students through a series of movements and exploration. Attention is drawn to the process of each movement and students learn the quality of change in their bodies. Through subtle movements you will learn to develop awareness, flexibility and co-ordination.

    Functional Integration
This is a hands-on process for people who require individual attention. The Feldenkrais Practitioner guides your movements through gentle touch.
The student lies or sits, comfortably clothed, on a low padded table. Using precise handling, the practitioner brings present habits into focus and offers new movement options. This learning is then applied to daily activities such as reaching, sitting, standing and walking.

Who is the Feldenkrais Method for?

The Feldenkrias method is used to enhance learning, self awareness and well being.
It is for people who want to:

  • Enhance performance skills in dance, music and sport
  • Rediscover integrated body use following acute or long standing injury or neurologic conditions
