The Scarborough Yoga Centre offers a wide array of classes to suit everyone's needs, from the raw beginner to the more advanced practitioner.
Hatha Yoga is a system involving breath and mindful movements that work to give benefits on a number of levels. The practices of Hatha Yoga are a complete internal and external process of purification and insight. There are a variety of styles of Hatha Yoga such as Astanga Vinyasa and Iyengar style Hatha, which are taught at the Scarborough Yoga Centre.
Yoga reduces and alleviates stress, while developing energy flow and increasing ones fitness, strength, postural alignment, endurance, muscle tone, concentration and general state of being. It's hard not to feel transformed through the practice of yoga.
People begin the practice of Yoga for vastly different reasons. Some come to work on physical problems such as sore backs or necks, weak postural muscles or respiratory ailments. Some come to gain an element of fitness, to tone and strengthen their bodies or to lose weight. Others come to feel that 'alive' and 'glowing' feeling that results from the practice. You may wish to learn relaxation techniques that you can use at any time in your life or as a part of setting your lifestyle in a healthier and more aware direction. Others come to yoga seeking help for more specific problems such as chronic fatigue, anxiety or as a part of their rehabilitation following illness or surgery. Whatever your initial reasons for starting Yoga, you are bound to feel the positive effects of the practice flow on to all parts of your life.
The teachers at the Scarborough Yoga Centre are dedicated to transmitting the teachings of Hatha Yoga to all levels of students without gimmicks or hype.
