Our Therapies

ACUPUNCTURE...Getting to the point of whatever ails you

Acupuncture originated in China more than 5000 years ago and is part of integrated system of primary health care, known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Of all the traditional treatment systems available in Australia, acupuncture is by far the most respected and has achieved wide-spread acceptance as an effective form of health care, including formal recognition by the World Health Organization.
Acupuncture is a safe and effective natural healing therapy that works by stimulating points on the body with gentle needle techniques and/or heat (moxibustion). The aim is to promote metabolic functions and restore homeostasis or balance. In 1979 the World Health Organization researched and recognized that the following common conditions are successfully treated with acupuncture: headaches, migraines, chronic asthma bronchitis, paralysis, sinusitis and sore throat. Peripheral neuropathy, Meniers’ disease, toothache, post-extraction pain, duodenal ulcers, gastritis, paralytic ileus, conjunctivitis and simple cataracts have also been researched. Others such as arthritis ,sciatica back pain and frozen shoulder are also included in the above list including many other common, and less common health conditions not mentioned here.
A frequent reported "side-effect" of acupuncture is an incresed level of relaxation. It is suggested that acupuncture directly increases the amount of serotonin in the hypothalamus - the part of the brain responsible for emotion. This may explain the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating anxiety, pain and mood disorders i.e depression where serotonin depletion is the likely cause of the associated symtoms.

HERBAL MEDICINE...Natures own healing agents

The oldest form of medicine on our planet, herbal preparations, are derived exclusively from plants and prepared with both the benefit of the experience passed down from generation to generation, coupled with the enormous body of scientific research now available in this field. Herbal medicine is the forerunner of modern drug medicine and still many chemical drugs are based on compounds found in plants. Herbalists prefer the crude plant form of a medicine instead of pure chemicals refined from plants. Herbalists believe that the biological complexity of humans is ideally matched by treatment with remedies of biological complexity - plants!. Herbal medicine is suited to treating chronic disorders such as arthritis, asthma, skin conditions, digestive problems, period pain, premenstrual tension, excessive disordered menstruation and menopause symptoms. It is also very effective in improving the functioning of the immune system.

HOMEOPATHY...Helps the body heal gently

Introduced over 200 years ago by Samuel Hahnemann, a German Physician, homeopathy is a system of medicine based on the principle of “like cures like”. Acknowledged by the World Health Organisation, Homeopathy has a proven track record as being a safe and cost effective system of medicine. Homeopathic remedies are made from plant, animal and mineral extracts and have no toxic side effects. In Natural Medicine, Homeopathic remedies are one of the easiest remedies to take and can be safely given to children, adolescents, pregnant and lactating women, adults and pets. They are also safe to take alongside perscription medicines. Many conditions can be succesfully addressed from coughs, colds and allergies through to eczema, chronic asthma, rheumatism and arthritis. Constitutions can be strengthened plus emotional issues of guilt, depression and behavioural problems addressed.

HYPNOTHERAPY...Relax while your dis-ease and habits slip away

Hypnosis is the deep trance (somewhere between waking and sleeping) that enables the unconscious mind to remove blocked fears and beliefs accumulated through life. These may cause dysfunction and dis-ease in the body. The process is private and painless and does not require the client to relive or remember any past experiences. While in trance the client is aware of everything yet feels completely detached. Hypnotherapy is especially effective for depression, stress, anxiety, migraine, obesity, pain and addictions.

MASSAGE THERAPY...Healing hands helping you keep in touch

Massage assists the circulatory, respiratory and lymphatic systems. It improves digestion, restores tone and flexibility to muscles and can ease symptoms of stress, such as lower back pain, neck and shoulder tension, as well as headaches and depression. It uses a range of gentle to deep tissue massage techniques and acupressure. It can be a preventative as well as a healing therapy and may include nutritional advice and exercise programs.
Used to relieve your body of stress, tension, headaches, back pain, muscular problems or simly to enjoy the pure pleasure of relaxation. Massage may soften and mobilise muscles that have become tight and contracted. Therapeutic massage will leave you feeling relaxed, calm and in an enhanced state of well being.

Lymphatic massage

Lymphatic drainage massage is designed to stimulate the lymphatic system and therefore the movement of lymph fluids and the removal of toxins from the body.

NATUROPATHY...Holistic natural medicine

Originally coined by the German pioneer Benedict Lust, naturopathy means literally “natural treatment”. However Naturopathy can originally be traced back to the time of Hippocrates in 400 BC. Hippocrates recognised the importance of nature's healing powers.
The foundation of modern day naturopathic practice encompaces a number of natural medicine modalities. Practitioners are usually trained in a range of specialities that can include herbalism and/or homeopathy, nutrition and acupuncture. Central to all these modalities is a core of "wholism" and the need to treat the cause as well as the presenting symptoms. Naturopaths believe the body has the power to heal itself so treatment is generally given both to alleviate symptoms and support self-healing Lifestyle and dietary change as well as natural medicines (herbs, cell salts, vitamins and minerals etc.) are used to aid healing.

NEURO LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING (N.L.P.)...Behavioural change therapy

NLP provides tools to change unwanted behaviour and teaches motivating, effective skills to help you achieve your goals. Thirty-five years ago, behavioural and cognitive psychology combined to create a comprehensive, cutting-edge therapy that individuals can use to achieve lasting change to their mental, emotional and physical health. Neuro Linguistic Programming uses the language of the mind to direct our human experience, communication and behaviour. We are what and how we think. We think, react and behave according to how we “program” ourselves. NLP is the programming tool of choice used to change old habits such as smoking, heal emotional wounds and create brighter and healthier futures. NLP may or may not be used in conjunction with hypnosis for indepth, transformational change.

TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM)...Wholistic health care

Traditional Chinese Medicine is an integrated system of primary health care that has an uninterrupted history of use and development in China and other parts of East Asia dating back over five thousand years.
The TCM health care system covers a range of therapeutic interventions, including acupuncture and/or Chinese Herbal Medicine, diet/lifestyle advice and preventative health care. The most popular forms of TCM health care used in Australia are Acupuncture and/or Chinese Herbal Medicine. Other TCM therapeutic interventions, such as TCM remedial massage and Qigong are gaining in popularity.
This holistic model provides effective treatment for a wide range of chronic and acute health disorders, in fact there are few conditions that traditional Chinese medicine cannot be used for. Using a combination of Acupuncture and/or Chinese Herbs and diet TCM may be used to help both treat and prevent dis-ease. The aim in TCM is to harmonise the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspacts of the individual. Therefore emotional aspects of any illness are addressed concurrently with the physical aspects.
