What can Pilates do for you?

The Pilates Method addresses poor posture by strengtheing the deep muscles of the body that stabilise movement made by the more superficial muslces.

Pilates is practised to optimise long term health of the body, and to assist in improving inefficient posture, that may be causing pain /injuries to the body.

Pilates suits anyone experiencing:

    Questions & Answers

Q: Is there a difference between Clinical Pilates often held by a Physiotherapist, and Studio Pilates?
A: Clinical Pilates is a name that Physiotherapists have given Studio Pilates. Please ensure you are being taught by someone who has completed a recognised Pilates qualification that has involved long term Pilates training
Q: Will I lose weight or increase my cardiovascular fitness by doing Pilates?
A: You will not lose weight by doing Pilates alone, but you will see an increase in tone throughout the body. Pilates classes do not involve significant cardiovascular strain to improve the CV system.
Q: Will I feel sore after doing a Pilates class?
A: You will use muscles in Pilates that you may not have used before, so it is common to feel them 24-72 hours after a class.
If you are starting Pilates and have been reasonbaly inactive or have poor spine health prior to doing so you may feel slight tenderness for the first 2-3 sessions. This is a normal reaction of the body if it is suddenly asked to move differently. This will subside after a short time.
Q: How many classes per week do I need to do?
A: We recommend 1 to 2 sessions per week to discover the changes that increased core strength will give to your body.
Q: How many classes wil I need to do?
A: It will depend on how quickly you understand the principles of Pilates. If you only do 10 classes you will not see much improvement as you would have only just started to use the core well by then. Please discuss this further wiith an instructor.
Q: Can I receive a rebate if I do Pilates at The Reformed Body?
A: Patients referred by their GP under the Enhanced Primary Care Program and Type 2 diabetes patients will recieve Medicare rebates.

Workcover clients, who have a referral from their GP and approval from their Workcover Insurance Provider will receive rebates.

Department of Veteran Affairs clients will recieve rebates.

Some health funds rebate Studio Pilates
