Shiatsu
...is a preventative therapy originating in China 2000 years ago, meaning simply finger pressure. Pressure is applied onto the energy-pathways (Meridians) in the body. It’s a very gentle form of massage and works on the physical, emotional and spiritual level. It clears blockages in the Meridians, balances the flow of energy in the body and helps to fight off illness and to maintain good health.
Ki Yoga
…..is derived from the teachings of Japanese yoga Master Masahiro Oki who combined Indian Hatha Yoga with the precise diagnostic & meridian based healing art of China and Japan. It is also called the Yoga of meaning. Stefanie studied under the watchful eye of Jack Marshall, who developed Ki Yoga. Master Oki believed in four essential things: strength in your Hara (or belly), laughter and smiles, a positive mind and gratitude. The asanas (poses) of Ki-yoga strengthen, balance and invigorate you and your body. They are aligned to the seasons & the needs of your body, to support your wellbeing in a holistic way.
Swedish Massage

It's Winter time
Springtime
Springtime is almost here
…….the energies around us become lighter, more childlike; plants & seedlings are rising & shooting out of the ground, impatient to extend upwards, bending in the wind with ease;
in our yoga classes we will aim for the same making it a time to wring out the heavy winter energy to become more flexible; we open into the sides of the body, lubricate the joints & ligaments & become more flexible, so feeling softer around the edges with a relaxed sense of order.
The Meridians of spring are the Liver and Gallbladder meridians. The liver meridian is related to our vision & direction in our life; our “calling”. The Gallbladder meridian is about putting the structure into place to support the implementation of this vision. It is a good time to think about where we are going with our lives & if the structure we have established is serving our bigger picture. So is it is very important to be open & flexible so we don’t get caught up in the “little things”, but have a clear vision. Our eyesight is strongly connected to this meridian; we will integrate our eyes into the yoga routines, to “see” clearly what’s ahead & still am able to walk our path in the now.
Springtime is also a time to detoxify, giving your body the opportunity to lighten up, lighten your eating & as the flavor of spring is sour, integrate pickles, good quality vinegars as well as sprouted foods.
The emotion that is related to spring time is anger, so sometimes when we do spring yoga; we can feel a bit cranky, irritated, frustrated, impatient or angry. That’s actually great & very positive, because it tells you that you access those meridians and start to release some of that excess energy & that might leave you feel more at ease with self & others & calmer.
So don’t miss the opportunity to support you & your body to move out of the heavy winter energy into the lightness of spring energy with the yoga classes.
Spring is the optimum time to increase, return to or start an effective yoga practice.
