SHIATSU: a quick insight
Shiatsu is Japanese therapeutic massage that works within the body to restore health and vitality. Shiatsu literally translates as finger pressure. Pressure is applied with thumbs, fingers, palms and feet to treat specific issues and encourage optimal health by stimulating the circulation of energy throughout the body. This pressure can be vigorous, deep and quite soft depending on your presenting symptoms. The result is a state of deep relaxation that stays with you well after your treatment as your body learns to re-pattern old habits.
REFERRAL REWARDS: for every client you refer and who makes an appointment you receive $10 off your next treatment (not valid in conjunction with other discounted offers).
WHO DOES IT BENEFIT
Shiatsu is good for everyone to maintain balance of overall mind/body health. Shiatsu is also highly beneficial in the treatment of specific issues. It effectively treats a wide range of conditions including:
• Stress, anxiety, fatigue and depression
• Neck, shoulder and back pain (acute & chronic)
• Headaches and migraines
• Poor circulation, insomnia and high blood pressure
• Digestive disorders, low immune system
• Muscular pain, injury management
• Pregnancy, fertility & menstrual issues
• Allergies; eczema, asthma and hay-fever
• RSI, sciatica and arthritic conditions
HOW DOES IT WORK
Combining diagnostic and treatment philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine with massage Shiatsu acts as a guide to tap into your body’s natural ability to heal. A Shiatsu practitioner adopts a holistic approach to health, treating your symptoms as well as their cause. By working on muscles and more deeply on internal organs, nervous system and meridians (energy channels), Shiatsu releases tension and redirects blocked energy to restore harmony to your body and mind.
IN A TREATMENT
Each treatment will focus on what is presenting at that particular time, addressing symptoms and their cause. A Shiatsu treatment will include diagnosis, applied pressure, deep tissue manipulation, stretches and rotations. Part of the holistic approach of Shiatsu is to address all aspects of your lifestyle, treatment may also include diet and lifestyle advise. You can expect to feel relaxed, reconnected and re-energized after a treatment.
*Shiatsu is done on a futon on the floor. Clients are fully clothed so remember to wear comfortable clothing
