Naturopathic Services
Melbourne Naturopathic Group is a general naturopathic practice that may use several different modalities to help you to achieve wellness. The main modalities used are:

Naturopathic Consultations
First Appointment
Your consultation will include a detailed medical, social, dietary and environmental history. A treatment plan will be formulated that may include a herbal, nutritional, dietary, flower essence or lifestyle prescription.
Initial appointments usually take one hour, while follow up appointments may last from half to one hour depending on the complexity of the case.
Please bring along a list of past and current medications, current supplements and any test results relating to your condition.
If you have time constraints please discuss this with your practitioner.
Appointment Availability
Consultations are by appointment only. Weekday, evening, early morning and weekend appointments are available.
Cancellations
Appointment cancellations require 24 hours notice. If notice of cancellation is not provided then a missed appointment fee may be charged.
Health Fund Rebates
Private Health Fund rebates may apply. Please enquire at your health fund.
Payment Options
For your convenience we accept EftPos, Visa, Mastercard, Bankcard or cash payments.
Payment is required at the time of your appointment.
Flower Essences
Your consultation may include a discussion about your emotional concerns if appropriate. Australian Bush Flower Essences help to restore balance to the mind and emotions. Flower essences are a powerful catalyst for change, promoting greater self awareness and encouraging positive emotional and behavioural states.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a consultation?
If you are a new client or presenting with a new concern, an appointment may take up to an hour. The time depends on how complex your problem is. If you have time constraints please discuss this with your practitioner. The time for repeat consultations may vary from 30- 60min.
What happens in a Consultation?
A consultation involves taking an extensive medical and lifestyle history. through this we are able to build up an impression of how your body is functioning, and make recommendations or prescribe remedies that are approriate to this. Iridology may be used as an adjunct during a consultation, we do not use iridology alone as a diagnostic tool.
Can I claim my consultations and remedies under my private health insurer?
Depending on your level of health cover you may be able to claim a portion of your consultation and or remedy costs. Contact you health insurer to check your level of cover.
Can I use HICAPS to claim from my pricate health insurer?
At this time the HICAPS service is not available to Naturopaths or their clients.
Is my consultation fee covered under Medicare?
Unfortunately Naturopathy is not covered under Medicare, or any government rebate scheme.
Do you do allergy testing?
We can arrange for allergy testing to be conducted through a local pathology company. This blood test helps to detect allergies to some of the more common food allergies.
Can I take my remedies at the same time as prescription medication?
In most cases you can use your prescription medicines with natural medicines. However, some herbs and supplements are not suitable for use with certain prescription drugs. Be sure to inform your Naturopath and other health care professionals about what prescription medications, herbs, homoeopathics, vitamins or other supplements that you may be taking.
