What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?Chinese Medicine is a system of professional medical practice with over 2000 years of written history. It incorporates Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Remedial Massage, Diet & Exercise Therapy. Chinese Medicine views each person as an individual with their own unique experience of their illness. It is with this understanding that each treatment is tailored to the person’s needs. This natural health care method has become widely accepted over the past three decades in Australia. It has now been established as a profession in Australia and has proved to be safe and effective. Legislation of TCM has now been introduced in Victoria and practitioner must be registered, ensuring the delivery of high quality services to the public. How Does Traditional Chinese Medicine Work? Each person has an energy (Qi) circulation. To maintain good health, it is essential for the body’s energy to be abundant, circulate in a continuous and unobstructed manner. The pathways through which the energy flows are called meridians and these circulate through the organs and tissues of the body. Acupuncture points lie along the meridians, which are stimulated to harmonise the energy flow. The Chinese Medicine way is to give the body the right condition to heal itself. We can assist in prevention of disease as well as treating the current problem. The earlier a disorder is detected the better it responds to treatments, so early intervention and regular check-ups are recommended.
