Further Information
Naturopathy is a practice of healthcare that uses natural medicines to treat and prevent disease.
It integrates conventional health sciences with a range of natural therapies to treat the mental, emotional and physical states.
Your naturopath is a skilled health practitioner trained to assess relevant aspects of your medical history, diet, lifestyle and general health to determine why you have come to experience your current symptoms.
Understanding why these symptoms have come about is essential in the development of a successful therapeutic plan.
Your therapeutic plan may include common foods, herbal medicine, vitamin and mineral supplements to assist the body in its healing process.
It is designed to provide symptomatic relief whilst incorporating specific treatments that prevent its recurrence.
Our naturopaths’ role is to educate and empower you to take responsibility for your health – to take an interest in a healthy way of life and recognise the impact this has
Our naturopaths devise dietary & lifestyle plans to suit all aspects of your work and home life
Natural medicines are more efficiently absorbed by the body than conventional medicines & have far fewer side effects

The main counselling approach used at Vita is known as the, “client-centred Rogerian approach (Carl Rogers)”. This method of counselling allows you to maintain control of the process at all times. Your counsellor’s role remains that of a witness and to assist you throughout the process.
This approach trusts the inner and often untapped wisdom of the Self. It is a non-judgemental counselling and coaching approach, offering you a space in which to explore your inner self. The objective is to allow you to become ‘all that you can be’*.
Vita’s counsellors also use Jung’s work on the Shadow & Archetypes and Active Imagination, more recently popularised through the work of Carolyn Myss.
These therapies include:
Expressive therapies such as sand tray and symbol work
Guided meditation
Body focussing
Art therapy
Dream work and
Journaling
Where relevant, referral for natural treatment of issues that have manifested physically
Counselling & Personal Coaching
Coaching and counselling relate to personal transformation and change.
Wholistic counselling differs from conventional counselling in that each client is regarded as a blend of the intellectual (mind), emotional (heart) physical (body) and spiritual (soul - in the non-religious sense).
The types of issues that may present are:
Strained personal or work relationships
Feeling of being ‘blocked’
Sense of hopelessness or frustration
Lack of direction in life
Lack of motivation
Difficulty sleeping
Difficulty managing emotions
Difficulty making decisions
Coaching & Soul Coaching
Coaching adopts a different treatment approach that is tailored according to the presentation. At times a blend of coaching and counselling may be used
The following activities may be used in a coaching session:
Identifying your personal values
Clarifying your purpose
Creating a vision for your life
Re-discovering /re-inventing yourself
Developing and carrying out action plans
Soul Coaching
This method of coaching takes you to a deeper level of self-knowledge, encouraging you to discover your authentic self.
Soul Coaching, based on the work of Denise Linn, adopts a traditional method of coaching. This incorporates a wide range of esoteric spiritual disciplines such as:
Learning the art of self love
Creating sacred spaces
Body and Space Clearing
Affirmations and
Gratitude exercises
Such methods enable you to listen to your soul’s suggestions on how to create a life full of joy, purpose and meaning.
Osteopathy uses manual therapy techniques similar to those applied by a chiropractor and physiotherapist. These include:
Manipulation
Soft tissue work
Stretching
Muscle energy techniques
and more specialised applications such as;
Cranio-sacral work and
Balanced ligamentous tension
Osteopathy believes in the ability of the body to heal itself and the relationship between function and structure (i.e. with abnormal structure comes dysfunction)
Treatment aims to assess the function and structure of the body and determine why it has a problem. Determining why the body produces specific symptoms assists in providing diagnosis and treatment whilst developing a strategy to prevent its reoccurrence in the future
An osteopathic consultation includes:
Case history
Assessment &diagnosis
Treatment
Debrief and
Self management advice
Duration 40 mins
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a system of health care developed over thousands of years in China. Yvonne specialises in acupuncture and laser or needle free acupuncture.
Initial consultation is one hour and includes a treatment. Acupuncture involves insertion of fine needles into specific points along pathways on the body called meridians. The aim of treatment is to restore the body back to a state of harmony. The procedure is fully explained on initial consultation. Needles are single use only. Laser acupuncture is particularly useful in treating musculo skeletal problems. The effect of acupuncture can be one of deep relaxation. Other TCM therapies will be discussed with you as they form part of the treatment plan. It is usual to have a series of treatments and acupuncture can complement other therapies offered at Vita.
