About Alaina
Alaina Studied at the Melbourne College of Natural Medicine where she completed a Diploma in Remedial Massage Therapy. She is also a member of the Australia Natural Therapist Association.
As a Massage Therapist, Alaina aims to provide a professional yet nurturing experience, where her clients wellbeing comes first.
Alaina provides a professional and tranquil atmosphere through burning pure essential oil blends, playing tranquil music and by using only the purest massage oil products to ensure that at the end of each session her clients feel relaxed in both body and mind.
Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is also referred to as Relaxation Massage, and is the most commonly used. It’s main aim is to relax the client, improve general wellbeing and reduce mental stress and general body tension. The techniques used aim to soothe and loosen the body. The speed is comfortable and slow. The pressure applied is light to moderate.
Aromatherapy Massage
Aromatherapy Massage uses various holistic principles. Working mainly on the nervous system, it brings restoration and balance. Combined with the use of Pure Essential Oils that have been chosen according to the clients needs, this massage will produce a state of general wellbeing.
RESET
Rafferty Energy System of Easing the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ)
RESET focuses on sending healing energy through the jaw to relax the surrounding muscles and structures in order to reset the TMJ.
The TMJ influences the body as a whole, including the body’s skeletal, muscular, nervous and meridian systems and hydration.
The slightest tension in the jaw muscles can alter the normal ‘balanced’ position of the TMJ, causing confused electrical messages to be relayed throughout the body. By relaxing the jaw muscles the TMJ is correctly reset.
In RESET the practitioner will use their fingertips and palms of the hand as energy is the most concentrated through these structures. They are then directed over specific areas of the jaw and head to channel the healing energy into the jaw.
To ensure the client is not overloaded and the body is able to realign and clear all the released stress and toxins, it is recommended that RESET be completed over two sessions, a week apart.
As the corrections are extremely relaxing, lying down is recommended to enhance the therapeutic effect.
The first session is completed with the eyes open to ensure the client doesn’t fall asleep. The second session is completed with eyes shut and an eye pillow placed over the eyes. This increases the depth and intensity of the treatment.
Ear Candling
Ear candles have been used as an effective natural therapy for hundreds of years in many cultures ranging from Asia and Siberia to the Native Indians of North and South America.
Ear Candles work by creating warmth and a slight vacume effect when the candle is lit. The air traveling down the hollow candle combined with the movement of the flame as the candle burns down, creates a gentle vibration that travels down through the ear candle to the ear drum providing a massage effect.
This leads to a decompression and regulating effect to the pressure in the ear, forehead and parasinuses
• The heat energy increases blood and lymphatic circulation, increasing immune response.
• The vibration stimulates energy and reflex points within the ear.
• Fire draws off negative energy from the energy field.
• The herbs used in the candle have a disinfectant and stimulating effect.
The treatment is safe, painless and relaxing and works on the eardrum, middle ear, eustachium tube and entire ear chamber.
Meaka Therapies chooses to use BIOSUN Hopi Ear Candles. BIOSUN have 21 years of ear candling experience and are classed as a Medical Product according to medical device directive 93/42/EEC in Europe and soon to be approved by the Therapeutic Goods Association (TGA).
1 hr session includes 15min ear candle therapy to each ear followed by a 30min RESET treatment to balance the jaw.
