Specialising in Harmonizing Body,Mind & Spirit
The massage is performed using a mixture of almond, grapeseed and apricot kernal oils (I use only cold pressed oils) and often a relaxing essential oil such as Bergamot, Rose Geranium or Lavender. I will ask you to let me know if the pressure I am using is too hard (or too soft) as you need to be comfortable - 'good' pain is ok. During a massage I usually use Swedish,Deep Tissue,Reflexology,Lymphatic Drainage and Trigger point techniques together depending on what the aim of the treatment is. If the massage is purely for relaxation and there are no specific problems or injuries, then it will be mostly Swedish Massage with usually a few Deep Tissue and Trigger Point techniques to relax specific muscles.
Lymphatic Drainage
Lymphatic massage is a technique which uses light strokes along the lymphatic vessels and surrounding tissues to remove toxins, stimulate circulation, and cleanse the tissues. This technique helps reduce swelling, aid in detoxification, and recovery from surgery. It is beneficial for weight loss, water retention, swelling, anti-aging, acne, and in promoting general wellness.
Reflexology
Reflexology is based on the principle that certain parts of the body reflect the whole. Reflex points, which relate to all parts of the body, can be found in the feet, hands and ears. These points respond to pressure, stimulating the body's own natural healing process. The body starts progressively clearing blockages, re-establishing energy flows and balancing itself, resulting in better health. There are many different styles and approaches used in reflexology, however the basic principle is constant. Subtle yet powerful, reflexology is becoming increasingly popular in the world of complementary therapies.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fiber's of the muscles, tendons and fascia. Deep tissue massage is used to release chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles not with the grain. Deep tissue massage helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage. However, if the massage is done correctly you should feel better than ever within a day or two
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy involves finding Trigger Points which are tiny tight nodules that form in muscles causing referred pain. Sometimes pain can be linked to one or more trigger points. The treatment goals include alleviating muscle spasms, improving circulation, and releasing trigger points. I apply direct momentary pressure to a trigger point to cause its release. During the massage, then I may return several times to a stubborn trigger point to elicit its release!
Swedish Relaxation Massage
Swedish Massage is a system of long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, percussion, vibration and shaking motions that apply pressure between muscles and bones, rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. Swedish Massage feels good, is relaxing and invigorating. The main purpose of Swedish Massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Some other benefits include shortening recovery time from muscular strain, increased circulation without increased heart load, stretching of ligaments and tendons, skin stimulation and soothing of the nervous system. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested as part of a regular program for stress management.

The middle of my back was so sore one morning when I woke up I could hardly walk,it was a Wednesday and I rang Rob who told me to come over as soon as I could! After about 45 mins of working on my back I could walk without pain anymore and by the following morning I was pain free altogether,Id never had a massage before and was amazed at how effective Robs treatment was! He advised me to do some specific stretches which helped also,I will definately be choosing a massage with Rob next time I have anything like that again.
