Hi,
My name is Katharine Ranken.
I’m a qualified Soul Centred Psychotherapist and counsellor with five years of experience; and a member of The Association of Soul Centred Psychotherapists (ASCP; which is a constituent member association of PACFA- Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia)
My background in Children’s and General Nursing has contributed to my understanding of the profound interconnection between Mind and Body.
SERVICES As is reflected in my picture, I have a respect of the natural environment- and this connects me to the importance of nature and nurture.
I work from rooms in Kew.
And can be contacted on 0409817159
I specialise in:
- Relationships,
- Stress,
- Grief,
- Depression,
- Phobias,
- Self esteem,
- Anxieties,
- Traumas,
- Eating disorders,
- Life crisis,
- Teenagers and young people who have left school, and are either working/studying or both.
- People of all ages who are searching to find wellbeing and the truth of who they are, and a path to take work/study wise.
- Managing the stress and pressures of juggling relationships, work, and study.
When Soul is mentioned in my work, it relates to meaning- which incorporates a sense of value and importance that is subjective to each person. The question asked is “what does this mean to you?” Its definition does not follow a particular system of religious worship- it’s about meaning and the value to each unique individual.
In this way each session is an individual process that incorporates self learning, and self care through:
- Developing awareness of the mind body communications in every day life to facilitate change
- Learning practical skills to enhance your life.
- Gaining knowledge and awareness with tools that can transform anxiety, stress, pain, conflict, depression, and more.
- Developing resources that can empower your life.
- Developing an internal sense of health and wellbeing- which has a positive affect on the external day to day interactions.
This can be short or long term therapy.
It is so important to find someone who can really listen to what you want to share, and using the tools of my work, I can hold to the unique individuality of each person.
The Work I use includes:
- Story, Metaphor, and Dreams - the individual’s story; and the understanding and meaning that can arise through the use of dreams, mythology, and fairytales.
- Working with Parts - identifying and working with the alliances and conflicts that can occur within us and between the many parts of self. Working with imagination and creative expression, links the conscious and the unconscious aspects of self, by giving form to imagery through art, writing, archetypes, and symbology. Developing an understanding of early development and the relationship with self and other allows the work with the Child to be possible in a respectful, and supportive environment.
- Thought Matrix Meridian Therapy - Developing mindfulness, awareness, grounding and confidence in every day life by gathering information and the ability to reflect in the present. This work incorporates muscle testing, and meridian tapping, based on recent mind/body healing research. This is used to treat anxieties, stresses, traumas, etc.
- Bi-Lateral Stimulation Processing - A therapeutic approach that opens up accelerated information processing for healing trauma, disruptive beliefs and behaviours. The relationship between Body and Mind is explored through visual, auditory and sensory channels, using eye movement work. This incorporates the mind/body/senses. Stored information is unlocked and processed, facilitating constructive change in a person’s life. This work facilitates the integration of past history that is traumatic, into a new healing context and perspective. This supports the evolving sense of self- developing linkings, and meaning.
A metaphor.
“He had often heard all these things before, these many voices in the river, but today he heard it in a new way. Now he no longer distinguished the many voices, the happy from the grieving, the childlike from the manly. They were all part of each other – longing laments, the laughter of the wise, cries of anger, and the moans of the dying – all were one , all were interwoven and linked, intertwined in a thousand ways. And everything together, all the voices, all the goals, all the striving, all the suffering, all the pleasure- everything together was the river of what is , the music of life.”
Siddhartha, Hermann Hesse.
I look forward to hearing from you.
I will return your call within 24 hours.
We can arrange to have a small consultation, on the phone or in person which is free and without obligation.
