If you have a sports injury, joint or muscular pain, headaches/migraines, sciatica or stress related conditions then remedial massage therapy can help relieve your symptoms.
SERVICES Remedial Massage Therapy
Addresses pain resulting from overuse, misuse or injury to your muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints. A variety of modalities are used depending on the nature of your injury. The goal is to restore function and blood flow to the injured site and reduce your pain. Corrective exercises/stretches and postures are given to minimise the incidence of re-injury and improve your general well being.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is used to treat muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints. Sports massage techniques are used to treat sports or work related injuries or as a management or prevention of injury.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is generally used to release deep seated tension (knots or trigger points) and is used to treat sports or other related injuries. It is commonly used in conjunction with remedial massage techniques.
Relaxation Massage
Relaxation massage (Swedish) is done on a superficial level. That is only the top layers of body tissues which includes lymph and blood vessels are stimulated allowing oxygen and nutrients to flow evenly through the body and helps with elimination of waste and toxins.
Relaxation can also include deep tissue work to reduce muscle tension and pain. It reduces stress both emotional and physical and can be used as part of a regular program during stress management. Relaxation massage allows your mind and body to be still, relax and unwind in a nurturing environment.
Myofascial Release Techniques
Connective tissue (Fascia) surrounds muscles, joints and visceral structures and accounts for most of the lengthening of muscle after stretching. Myofascial release techniques can alleviate pain and restriction caused by injury or general wear and tear.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger points are tight bands that form within muscles as a result from overloading the muscle by physical, mechanical or nutritional stresses. These irritable areas cause referred pain and can shorten or weaken affected muscles. Deactivation of the trigger points can relieve pain, promote blood flow and nutrients and restore function to stressed muscles.
Acupressure
Similar to trigger point therapy but works on the meridian system and helps clear blockages and free energy channels.
This can also be used in conjunction with cupping and remedial techniques.
Cupping
Cupping gently releases stagnant or blocked energy that can cause pain and dysfunction. Cupping helps restore balance to your system.
Stretching and lengthening of muscles and soft tissue helps to promote blood flow and nutrients into these areas and prevent injury.
Pre and post natal massage
Pregnancy massage helps with problems associated with pregnancy such as fluid retention, sciatica, neck and shoulder pain and fatigue. A gentle form of masage that promotes relaxation and general well being.
