Cucumbers are cool to eat!  In a smoothie recipe, they are quick, flavoursome, refreshing and easy to throw in.  In a recipe, they can be dominated by another fruit, thanks to their very mild flavour.  You can throw almost anything in combination with the cucumber for a tasty and fruity smoothie.

Which Fruits Can I Blend with Cucumbers

Cucumbers have a high water content (which is really cool for making smoothies).  Because of this, they will work best when blended with a more solid and less liquid fruit.  A good example of this is a banana.  Not only do they add flavour, they also act as a thickening agent. However, apples and mangoes also tend to blend well with cucumbers.

The water content of cucumbers is 96% therefore making them one of the most hydrating vegetables around! Lets take a closer look:

  • Hydration.  Cucumbers keep the body hydrated.  They will also replenish you with vitamins and minerals.  These being vitamin K, C, B5, A, potassium, magnesium
  • Skin Care. Cucumbers are often used as a sunburn relief and can be found in facial masks and skin cleansers.
  • Aid in Digestion.  The dietary fibre found in the cucumber is great for a healthy gut.  Freshly juiced cucumber can be great in the relief of ulcers.

Yummy Smoothie

Ingredients
  • 1 cucumber
  • 2 cups fresh baby spinach
  • 2 apples (seeded)
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tbsp flax seed oil
  • Ice as needed
Instructions
  1. Blend all the ingredients in your blender until smooth and enjoy.

Cool as a Cucumber Smoothie

Ingredients
  • ½ ripe rockmelon
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 cup watermelon
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • 1 cup leafy green (spinach or kale)
  • 1 cup water
  • Ice as needed
Instructions
  1. Blend all the ingredients in your blender until smooth and enjoy.

Banana and Cucumber Smoothie

Ingredients
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cucumber
  • ½ cup frozen mango
  • 1 cup coconut water
