Studying Reiki

Reiki is a gentle but powerful modality that is of great benefit to both the healer and the person being healed. If you've always been interested in Reiki and want to know more, or you want to turn your love of Reiki into a business as well as a passion, it is possible to study it. Read on for more information.

What is Reiki?

The word Reiki means universal life energy, and it's made up of two Japanese words: "Rei" means universal and "Ki" meaning life force. Reiki is a form of healing that works on the energy field that is within and around the body. Essentially, the practitioner or healer channels the energy from the universe into the person receiving the treatment, and as such receives the healing energy themselves as well.

A healing session does not drain the healer in any way as they are connected to the universal Reiki source. This strong connection allows for a seamless flow of energy that goes beyond healing on the physical level. Reiki is a spiritual practice that allows an individual to connect with their higher self, which in turn eliminates their energy blockages and enables them to cope with a wide range of emotional and mental issues such as stress, depression, anxiety, fears, low self-confidence and many others. The transfer of energy also helps with headaches, nausea, fatigue, insomnia and chronic pain, as it supports the body's natural healing abilities.

Why Should You Study Reiki?

Transmitting universal energy with one's hands triggers energy shifts that improve the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of not only the recipient of positive energy but also the giver. As a student, learning how to conduct a Reiki session, whether in person or through distance healing, will boost your personal development and ability to protect, ground and reinvigorate your energy. Additionally, Reiki self-care will help you maintain balance in your life and make you less susceptible to illness.

The wonderful effects of Reiki extend beyond human beings; even pets can benefit massively from this spiritual healing approach. In fact, it's one of the favourite modalities of animal therapists when addressing emotional and behavioural issues in pets and farm animals.

What Courses Teach Reiki?

Reiki I in Australia     Reiki II in Australia

If you love Reiki, there are different courses that you can undertake to hone your natural ability of harnessing the life force energy to improve the health and wellbeing of others. You may opt for a short Reiki workshop and feel it out first or dive straight into a complete Reiki training program. A comprehensive course generally consists of three levels: Reiki 1, Reiki 2 and Master/Teacher level.

Reiki 1 is where you receive attunement, a connection with the ultimate source of life force energy, and learn about the history of Reiki, its principles and energetic anatomy. It will also guide you through the creation of a sacred space, grounding, protecting and cleansing, meditation, reiju and self-healing. Upon its completion, you will be able to use what you've learnt to heal yourself, family members and friends.

In Reiki 2, you will learn the sacred symbols and their uses. It will deepen your knowledge and attunement to Reiki, plus you will learn how to perform Reiki treatment from a distance. The Reiki Master training course is where you commit to an ongoing quest to achieve Reiki mastery. Once you reach this level, you are qualified to teach Reiki to others and conduct attunements.

To be a qualified Reiki practitioner, you must complete Reiki 2 or up to the Master/Teacher level.
