Services Offered

Osteopathy

As a holistic form of manual therapy, osteopathy uses different techniques to ease body aches and pains and improve your overall wellness.

An osteopath specialises in the neuro-musculoskeletal system, which includes bone, muscles, nerves, and other tissue that surrounds and supports the body.

Disruptions to these systems have been found to impair normal function and lower resistance to disease.

An osteopath uses a detailed medical history, performs a comprehensive examination, and a range of hands-on techniques to recognise the types of dysfunctions present in your body and determine the appropriate treatment.

Following a clinical assessment conducted by your osteopath at your first visit and any subsequent visits, you may receive the following osteopathy treatments:

  • Musculoskeletal and nervous system assessments - Osteopaths use a variety of techniques to determine what is going on in the body.
  • Manual therapy - A range of hands-on techniques to relieve pain and discomfort in musculoskeletal tissues.
  • Clinical exercise programs (CEPs) - Activities and movement strategies that can be carried out at home, at work or anywhere else. Following an injury or surgery, exercising may assist you in returning to activities you enjoy.
  • Body function assessments - Includes movement and ergonomic assessments, postural analyses
  • Therapeutic needling techniques - dry needling and trigger point therapy
  • Patient education and advice - Lifestyle factors, stress management, habits, and diet that may contribute to injuries, pain and dysfunction.

From newborns to pregnant women and elderly patients, Dr Kamisha treats everyone seeking osteopathic treatment for the following reasons:

  • Arthritis
  • Balancing and walking issues

Osteopathy is covered by all private health funds and the Chronic Disease Management scheme.

Dry Needling

Myofascial trigger points are treated with Dry Needling, which loosens muscle fibres, easing pain and enhancing function.

Trigger points also called muscle knots, are groups of muscle fibres that shorten when activated but do not lengthen back to the relaxed state.

During dry needling, the blood flow to the area is increased, thereby infusing the muscles with fresh oxygen and nutrients and flushing away any acidic metabolic wastes; this releases the muscle's trigger points.
