Australian Colon Hydrotherapy Association (ACHA)

ACHA offers membership to practitioners of closed and open colonic systems. To make colon hydrotherapy a mainstream profession, the association has established several laws that must be followed by qualified members. Contact the ACHA today to learn more or to submit an application!

ACHA Membership Requirements

In the ACHA, there are 3 categories of paid membership: Full, Probationary and Associate.

Currently, Colon Hydrotherapy is taught in short courses as an adjunct therapy with only the anatomical, physiological and practical knowledge necessary to perform the therapy.

The courses don’t include a wide physiology and anatomy education but only focus on digestive and circulatory systems.

Different courses offer different styles and techniques; you have the option to choose the most suitable for you, whether it is an open or closed system colonic procedure.

The goal is to become a good therapist, not a technician. Practice makes perfect, so experience in therapy is essential.

In this regard, all membership categories must comply with three mandatory requirements.

  1. You should hold a certificate of completion from a recognised training course in Colon Hydrotherapy. The course must be registered within Australia to be recognised by insurance companies and meet health department standards.
  2. Completion of a two-year full or part-time course in body-based therapy, including extensive anatomy and physiology and a pass certificate.
  3. The premises must meet the standards set by the Health Department and local councils. The ACHA can become available for any help in meeting the requirements if members are not sure they meet the requirements out of Sydney.

An ACHA membership is not automatic after completion of a recognised course. All membership applications are reviewed by the ACHA Membership Committee.
