It has been more than 15 years since friends asked me to join a local Tai Chi class! I was living an active life, had been playing a lot of sport and was healthy so I was ready to enjoy this new experience!
I found Tai Chi and Qigong to be highly fascinating and the movements that are specifically designed to build, store and utilise energy so that your body can grow and increase in flexibility and strength through relaxation, stretching, transferring weight and breathing with the Yin and Yang of the movements!
I learnt that Tai Chi is amongst the world’s oldest form of ‘mindfulness meditation’ and is commonly known as internal Martial Arts. Tai Chi is based around the ‘feeling within’ where alignment and posture can be felt as opposed to ‘being seen’. The aim is less concerned with how you ‘look’ whilst performing our forms on the outside… and more how we ‘feel’ on the inside as we enjoy the practice and gain the health and healing benefits!
Ongoing medical research is growing and supporting the health benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong for everybody. Physiotherapists, Doctors, Acupuncturists, Massage Therapists, Podiatrists and other health professionals are learning about and recommending Tai Chi to their patients.
