When painful past memories are part of the problem, or if there are phobias, strong anxiety or past traumas, EFT Tapping may also be taught. Tapping can be used for self-help and is an excellent stress-reduction tool. It is acknowledged to be effective for personal self-resilience, self-regulation, trauma and stress. It shows some promise in treating phobias, panic, generalised anxiety, and depression. This evaluation is based on more than two dozen rigorously conducted research studies.
If in the course of therapy other anxiety issues emerge, such as social anxiety, agoraphobia or OCD, cognitive behaviour therapy protocols are able to treat these very distressing problems with great effectiveness. CBT is also excellent for dealing iwth unhealthy core beliefs; for example, those that give rise to codependency, lack of motivation and discipline, anger issues, low self-esteem, poor communication and problem solving skills, and avoidant coping.
