Relaxation Massage (Swedish Massage)
Swedish Massage is a relaxing form of massage where the massage therapist will stimulate, relax, and loosen the knots within the muscles throughout the entire body. The whole body is massages to help with relaxation. This type of massage is more concentrated on the out layer of muscle and will steer clear of the deeper pressure that is utilised in a Deep Tissue or Remedial Massage.
A Remedial Massage is a far more specific massage, where areas of tension and stress are warmed, and muscles released, through the use of firm to medium pressure. Remedial Massage looks to stretch and lengthen connective tissue and muscles and concentrates on areas which are overused or strained.
This type of massage concentrates itself on enhancing the movement of the lymphatic system. Lymphatic massages are unusual as they do not focus on the muscles, but involve firm upward movements along the lymph ducts and nodes, to stimulate the lymphatic system’s movement.
Tui Na Massage
Tui Na literally means “to push” and to “lift and squeeze”. Tui Na is a method of TCM which utilises massage, and also cupping and moxa, to bring the body back into balance. The massage therapist will roll, knead, and press along the body moving energy through the meridians and muscles of the body. Tui Na aids in the treatment of both chronic and acute musculoskeletal conditions, as well as many non-musculoskeletal conditions, through bringing the body back into balance.
A Sports Massage is utilised to prepare or recover from training or performance; and to treat sporting conditions or injuries. Sports Massage is not designed to be a relaxing massage, rather it can be at times quite vigorous at times working on the problem areas.
