Adeline Wong - Acupuncture
What does acupuncture involve?
Acupuncture involves inserting hair-fine needles into the body’s meridians or channels, to tap into the body’s Life Force Energy or Qi (pronounced “chee”). Using the needles, this Qi can then be regulated to help bring the body back into harmony.
What does each consultation involve?
In the initial consultation, a health history will be taken and MANY questions will be asked. Possibly, some range of movement tests may be done (particularly for musculoskeletal problems) and/or palpation (examination by touch) of any affected areas. Tongue and pulse analysis is also completed. A diagnosis is done by the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner and a treatment plan is outlined, based on this diagnosis. Then the actual treatment follows.
With the follow-up consultations, they basically continue using the same format as the initial consultation but with less detailed health history taken (which has already been done in the initial consultation). Therefore, the follow-up usually takes a shorter time.
Approx. Visit Times:
Initial visit: 60 mins.
Follow up visit: 30 to 45 mins.
Treatment is included in each of my consultations.
Please Note: Clients who present with and require treatment for different unrelated conditions each time or those whom have not attended the clinic for 2+ months may require an initial consultation to be properly re-assessed again.
What does each treatment involve?
Treatment mainly involves the insertion of hair-fine needles into the body. Additional techniques (eg. moxibustion, electro acupuncture, etc) may be incorporated into the treatment but only if the practitioner deems it necessary. Lifestyle advice is also given.
Laser acupuncture available
We encourage you to try the needles, however, if for whatever reason you decide not to, laser acupuncture could be an alternate option for you. Please ask us about it.
How many treatments are required?
In most cases (but not all), more than one treatment is required to build upon and get the best combination of therapeutic effects, hence, better results.
As everyone is different and presents with different complaints, the actual number of treatments will vary and will be dependent on such factors as the response to each treatment; what the actual complaint is; the duration and severity of the client’s problem (prior to the first treatment); client’s age and constitution; and client’s lifestyle/dietary factors (which may be helping/hindering recovery). These will all influence the desired outcome and recovery times.
As acupuncture is natural and holistic, every treatment is tailor-made for each individual.
