At A Li Acupuncture we’re dedicated to health in all aspects. Coming to the clinic is a whole of body experience. We aim to set you at ease from the moment you walk through the door and teach you how to continue that experience throughout your daily life. Both your person and personal understanding of your healing are very important to us and we’re very privileged to be a part of your journey.

What to Expect:

Chinese medicine (Acupuncture) is an ancient art/science of healing the body, mind and spirit or Shen. It involves a very detailed questionnaire of your health history and current complaints. The treatment is then tailor-made to your needs on the day, thus each treatment is unique and specific for your body’s balance. A treatment can include acupuncture (needling), cupping, Gua Sha (scraping), Moxibustion (the use of moxa), deep tissue massage (ashi point therapy), ear candling and guidance on lifestyle, food and work/postural habits.

Wear anything that is comfortable or loose-fitting. You will generally be asked to undress, apart from underwear, as points are used throughout the body for treatment. There are plenty of towels provided for comfort, modesty and temperature control.

Please take off any jewellery before getting onto the treatment table as it may block acupuncture points or get greasy from massage oil.

Aurelia Everaarts (Acupuncturist)

Aurelia is a highly intuitive Acupuncturist that has been working in her chosen field for 12 years. Coming from a background where natural health was an integrated part of her upbringing lead Aurelia into her study and further pursuits. She studied at The Australian College of Natural Medicine (now known as Endeavour College of Natural Health) here in Brisbane and spent the last 2 months of her studies in China learning at the hands of Master Herbalists and Acupuncturists. Since the beginning of her practice she has had the pleasure to work with a very wide variety of patients ranging from the Queensland Orchestra, sporting bodies, patients with pain (both acute and chronic), emotional issues such as anxiety, depression, stress as well as a keen interest in women’s health and fertility; and so has a broad ability in her skill of healing.

As a health professional, Aurelia believes very strongly in health management and the prevention of disease, not just the cure of it. Acupuncture is a wonderful way to stay in health and experience a state of balance. Aurelia works closely with a number of other health professionals including Kinesiologists, Massage Therapists, Nutritionists, NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) practitioners, Reiki practitioners and Reflexologists. This gives her many options to pass on to you for accessing other ways of healing as well as “more tools in the tool belt”.

“I believe that the body has an innate ability to heal itself, all I do is re-empower you to heal yourself”.

What makes Aurelia different to other Practitioners?

I believe in a one-on-one approach to treatment. You pay for my time, so I am 100% focused on you. Unlike other acupuncturists, I am not treating another patient or patients whilst I’m treating you. I put the needles in and talk you through the treatment. Education is top on my priority list when it comes to my patients. I’m not threatened by my patients knowing more than me or passing my knowledge on. In fact, I welcome it. The more people who know about health and practice it, in my belief, the better our world will be. I teach you about what points we’re doing each treatment and why; in conjunction with an explanation of a Chinese diagnosis and where we’re headed in the future with your treatments. Occasionally I will stay in the room once your needles are in place, this gives me time not only to understand you more fully as a person, but is a safety precaution when using moxa.

Time is very important to me, both mine and yours. I endeavour to be on time with every patient and 99% of the time, I am. However if I’m ever running late, I will let you know and I ask for your patience. I do not charge a cancellation fee, but I do ask for at least 24 hours notice. This is both out of respect to my time and to my other patients, so please be thoughtful when making cancellations.
