Testing Methods for Food Sensitivities and Intolerances

Food sensitivities show different symptoms that are difficult to identify through the naked eye. Here at Allergy Testing & Food Intolerance, we perform rigorous tests to guide our clients in determining which foods trigger their digestive problems.

After conducting the test and identifying the foods in question, we work with our clients in developing a treatment plan that is tailored to their needs and will help them manage their condition.

Based on our in-depth analysis of various tests we have conducted, the following are common symptoms of food intolerances and sensitivities:

Testing Method for Food Sensitivities

We perform a finger prick food sensitivity test on 50 to 96 types of food to identify the foods you are sensitive to. This method is safe on both children and adults, and consists of the following steps: 

1. We will take your blood specimen using the finger prick method and then check it against a variety of foods.
2. From the results, we will be able to tell you what foods your body couldn’t tolerate and recommend cutting them out of your diet. Each test comes with a 3-month access to our Victus Nutrition software, which will surely benefit you.
3. We will develop a treatment plan to restore your gastrointestinal system. This plan comprises foods that will reduce symptoms of inflammation and expedite the healing process of your gut.

The panel of foods involved in the test usually contain gluten, wheat, corn, egg, dairy, yeast and soy. Through the test, you will also find out if you are sensitive to phenols, salicylates, additives, preservatives, food colouring and flavouring, as well as amines and nitrates.

People who are sensitive to certain types of food will immediately manifest symptoms of an allergic reaction within three hours from ingesting the food they are allergic to.

Some allergic reactions are manifested in the form of a rash. Others may trigger asthma, rhinitis, dermatitis, hay fever symptoms, or swelling of the face, tongue or eyes. 

Anaphylactic is a fatal form of allergic reaction that is usually triggered by eating peanuts or shellfish. Once it erupts, you could be placed on a management plan under the guidance of a medical doctor. 

Testing Method for Food Intolerances 

For food intolerances, we apply the breath testing method, which you can do at home or in our clinic, to gather information about the following:

• Lactose intolerance
• Fructose intolerance
• Sorbitol intolerance
• Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)

We can also use FODMAP Elimination and Challenge diet in lieu of breath testing. Once we have the results, we can advise you on which foods to temporarily remove from your diet. You will also have a 3--month access to our Victus Nutrition software which will further speed up your recovery.

In the event that we find small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) in the result of your test, we will recommend an herbal medication based on Dr. Alision Siebecker’s treatment plan.
