Welcome to Astanga Vinyasa Yoga

We are Tony and Stacey Enchelmaier.

We invite you to develop your practice within our friendly class environment where we offer guidance and adjustments as appropriate. Our no pressure approach will allow you to discover for yourself the many benefits that Astanga has to offer. As you are rewarded through the efforts of your own practice discipline evolves and yoga can become a way of life to be enjoyed.

About Astanga Yoga

When you see Astanga Vinyasa Yoga practiced you watch a body in flowing motion. This flow is known as Vinyasa or breath and movement synchronisation.

What you feel when you practice Astanga Yoga is the systematic opening of the body as you move through the set sequence of asanas. The order of the sequence remains constant, equally cultivating strength and flexibility. Proficiency takes time and is required before moving on.

Astanga Yoga’s dynamic nature is brought about by an inner strength yet outer softness with no forcing. It is experienced as a feeling of lightness in the body.

The culmination of key elements develops a meditative quality to the practice. In this way individuals are able to realise their potential and develop from their own inner wisdom.

Types of Astanga Vinyasa Yoga

Accessible Astanga

This guided/taught class is tailored to the students needs within their continually evolving practice. Participants will be introduced to part of the Primary series and gain an understanding of this unique breathing system and the sequence. Each class gives concise and relevant instruction on the asanas and includes relaxation. Benefits gained will be strength, stamina and flexibilty of the mind and the body. It creates a solid foundation on which to develop your yoga practice and build towards Mysore Style / Self Practice.

Authentic Astanga

elf Practice or Mysore Style, as it is known, is the way in which this yoga was designed to be practiced. It is not a taught class, students practice at their own pace and within their own ability. The teacherಯle is to guide and adjust students individually without interfering with their practice. Studentలogress is determined by their individual practice and as directed by the teacher. You will build a yoga practice that is uniquely yours, that you can practice anywhere. Benefits gained will be strength, stamina and flexibilty of the mind and the body. It is not about where you are "up to" in the sequence, but about the effort continually applied in all areas of the practice. It allows for complete focus bringing a new level of depth to the practice and your life.
