AIK offers various levels of membership depending on your qualifications. If you’re a student or have training in another modality that has links to Kinesiology, you can apply as an Associate or Student member. Find out more about each membership level and its benefits on the AIK website.

AIK Membership Levels

All levels of membership require specific qualifications.

Associate or Associate Professional Member

Members who hold qualifications in supportive fields such as: 

  • Medicine
  • Dentistry
  • Physical Therapies
  • Counselling
  • Naturopathy
  • Nutritionist
  • Psychology
  • Remedial Massage
  • Clinical Hypnotherapists
  • Information Technology
  • Law
  • Business Management

Also eligible for this membership level are retired or semi-retired clinical practitioners in Kinesiology.

Student Member

Student currently studying Kinesiology at a training organisation accredited by AIK Ltd. 

Those with established Kinesiology qualifications, such as a Certificate in Kinesiology, are not eligible for membership. Students must provide a current first-aid certificate.

Standard Member

A member who has completed Kinesiology qualifications and is currently in the process of running a clinical practice and advancing their qualifications.

Registered Member
  • Members with a Cert IV in Kinesiology or equivalent 
  • Must be operating a clinical practice
  • If elected, this membership level will have the right to hold a position on the NE Board.
Registered Professional Member
  • Diploma in Kinesiology or equivalent
  • Must be operating a clinical practice
  • Entitled to voting rights and will have the right to hold a position on the NE Board if elected.
Registered Specialist Professional Member

Advanced Diploma in Kinesiology or equivalent 
Member must have a clinical practice. 
Entitled to voting rights and will have the right to hold a position on the NE Board if elected.
Associate Fellow Member

  • Advanced Diploma in Kinesiology or equivalent 
  • May be operating a clinical practice
  • A member must have held the Registered Professional Membership Level with AIK Ltd for a minimum of five continuous years.
  • Must have served as President, Secretary, or Treasurer of the NE Board for one full year. 
  • Must have published a minimum of three articles in the E-Indicator or its equivalent and presented at the AIK Ltd Conference. 
  • Entitled to voting rights and will have the right to hold a position on the NE Board if elected.
Fellow Member
  • Members of this level are appointed by the AIK Ltd National Executive Board and must have been Associate Fellow Members for 5 years.
  • If elected, this membership level will have the right to hold a position on the NE Board. 
  • The AIK Ltd provides this member with support, a free listing on the AIK Ltd Practitioner Directory, and a copy of the E-Indicator and E-News. 
  • Member is entitled to voting rights.
Life or Honorary Member
  • AIK Ltd's National Executive Board appoints members to this level. 
  • Members are entitled to hold a position on NE Board if elected. 
  • Members receive support from the AIK Ltd, a free listing on the AIK Ltd Practitioner Directory, and a copy of the E-Indicator and E-News. 
  • Members are is entitled to voting rights.

Membership Benefits

Professional membership is necessary to obtain business insurance and to be recognised by other health agencies.

  • Members receive a Certificate of Membership that is valid when accompanied by the current year's membership fee receipt.
  • The Institute's newsletter, the e-News, informs members of local, national and international Kinesiology news, research, and training opportunities.
  • The e-Indicator is the Institute's quarterly magazine that contains research and articles by members of The Institute on topics specific to their own areas of expertise.
  • Members have the opportunity to advertise their courses and businesses related to Kinesiology on the website and the e-Indicator.
  • The Institute provides members with access to a professional support network.
  • The AIK Ltd membership runs by the calendar year (January to December), so a new membership can be purchased anytime during the year. If you join during the second half of the year (from July onwards), you pay a reduced membership fee.
