Graham Hocking is a nationally registered counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association, and qualified as a Government Accredited Holistic Kinesiologist. He has experience working with anxiety, depression, stress management, anger management, men’s health, self-esteem, life transitions, grief & loss and relationship issues.
Graham works with a client-centred approach that draws upon psycho-dynamic, humanistic, cognitive, mindfulness, emotion-focused and existential theories. This allows the client to explore their world in more detail; to understand how they view themselves and to see themselves more clearly. In turn, they will have the ability to make informed choices on how best to deal with situations and find more appropriate ways of living in an integrated way. Graham's work is done in a collaborative way between himself and the client and he uses the relationship to explore the client’s own sense of self and how they relate to others and the world.
Over many years of learning and experience I have come to know that for counselling to be effective and promote growth, it must support the person in connecting to the inner self. By connecting with this inner place, we are able to express and process past hurts, release ‘stuck’ emotions that create unhealthy patterns, and discover and express those emotions and tendencies that are oriented towards joy and growth. It is from this place that we can then relate to others and to our environment in a meaningful and rewarding way. This is the type of approach I prefer to use, as it promotes personal growth and the development of emotional intelligence and skills that are life changing, with a resonating influence for the rest of the person’s life.
My commitment is to provide you with a supportive and caring environment where you will experience being heard without feeling judged. You will be fully supported and encouraged to explore your own issues, always with the focus on enhancing your personal and individual wellbeing.
HOLISTIC KINESIOLOGY provides a unique and valuable tool to support clients in overcoming a wide range difficulties that impact negatively on their wellbeing, therefore powerfully supporting the healing process. This proven model is based on a deep understanding of the psychology of Traditional Chinese Medicine, effectively helping liberate clients from unconscious patterns of negative beliefs and attitudes, allowing them to live with greater inner harmony and personal integrity.

I draw on more than 30 years of experience in personal development, having spent 10 years as a group facilitator with The Cairnmillar Institute through their long running course “Human Relations for Everyday Living”.
I have formal professional training in complementary medicine, and counselling for individuals and couples.
I am passionate about Men's Health & Wellbeing.
Today, there is an emerging need to support men in developing a sense of authentic manhood, and to release men from toxic models of masculinity and generations of patriarchy, that have socialised men from a young age to suppress tenderness and vulnerability, causing them to live their lives in an emotional straight jacket.
Since 2016, I have been privileged to facilitate the Melbourne Men's Group Inc. Eastern Chapter meetings at East Doncaster. As a further step forward, a new Authentic Man™ Face to Face Focus Group for Men commenced in July 2018 to serve the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing of men where we create opportunities for men to reacquaint themselves with their essentially masculine nature, and to express what they find in a safe and non-judgemental environment.
I am committed to helping people from all walks of life work through a wide range of life’s challenges and emotional difficulties, which includes exploring masculinity, relationship issues, anxiety and stress, addictions, low self esteem and depression.
I am passionate about working with couples and individuals in helping them to recover and restore their intrinsic balance of physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing, and to live with integrity in realising the fullest of their human potential.
“I am so blown away by your work and how much I have accomplished within since my inner work began with you. I find myself being happy, happy with who I am and where I’m at, at any time place or situation. I have formed some tight friendships with similar minded folk, developing my working life and thriving in my motherhood. I am eternally grateful for all of your wisdom and guidance, for breaking down barriers and helping me cross bridges that I never considered possible. You are a truly exceptional human being.”

“Having had sessions with Graham, I can highly recommend his insight, wisdom, experience, expertise and ability to tap right into the heart of things. I'm also really enjoying reading the regular pearls of wisdom from your Enhancing Relationships page that appear on my Facebook feed as well. A gentle reminder for me to keep trying to view my relationship with my husband in the right light; keep adjusting, adapting, compromising, growing, learning, forgiving and loving.”

“Thank-you Graham, you have provided me with the right tools, environment and support which enabled me to unlearn those long established negative patterns and responses, and replace them with ones that benefit me and the ones I love. All this was done in a very friendly, honest, down to earth and supportive manner. I will highly recommend your services to anyone who is serious about changing their lives for the better”

“Graham, in the past six months, you have helped me achieve major personal changes. I have found my own identity again which had been buried for a long time due to negative life events. The benefit has been a tremendous feeling of freedom – freedom to voice my opinion and say what’s important to me whilst still maintaining my self worth if others disagree. I have learnt to consider my own needs and not feel guilty – whilst I still have some work to do, I know that with your help, my life will get better and better”
– Wendy, Numurkah
“When I first came to see you Graham, it was for the embarrassing skin condition of rosacea, which negatively effected my self esteem. Deeper, underlying and difficult emotional issues came up that you gently and sensitively presented to me. Despite my inherent impatience to take aim and fire at the target, you knew that I would not really “hear” my own body’s messages until the time was right. Almost imperceptively, I have made great changes in my life – in areas that seemed untouchable, too hard. And this has been achieved without the need for tears, tissues and red eyes! Thank you Graham for respecting my gentle soul and for helping me to learn to do the same. With gratitude.”
