Autism & Special Needs Consultation Information
A Word of Warning
This program is not for people who can’t make the commitment. It takes dedication and persistence, there will be good times and not so good times in the journey. I will explain what is required and ask if you are willing to do what it takes.
I will ask you to make dietary changes and to give your child nutritional supplements. I will help with these changes, but it is up to you to make sure the changes are made and adhered to. Your child’s progress depends on you carefully implementing the changes that I request.
This is not a quick fix program. In most cases treatment is needed for 1 to 3 years and a degree of nutritional supplementation may be required for much longer. If you are not prepared to commit for this length of time, I regret that I cannot help your child.
1.5 to 2 hours
Your child must be present
In your first appointment I will spend 1.5 to 2 hours with you to understand everything about your child’s health and development, spending time with you to fully understand all of your concerns. Together we will review any test results you already have and assess if additional testing is required.
Testing usually recommended is:
- Hair analysis – sent to Doctors Data International in the US
- Urine test for pyrrole disorder – performed by Safe Laboratories on the Gold Coast
- Other testing may be recommended depending on your child’s need.
With all the information collected I will pull it all together and explain the factors involved in your child’s condition, as well as what is involved with treatment. I will ask if you can commit to the program, to do what it takes to get results.
I will then look at any changes that need to be made to your child’s diet
As part of your program I provide support via email for questions that take less than 10 minutes to answer.
All initial consultations must be done face to face in the clinic. Follow up consultations may be done by Skype but are not eligible for health fund rebates.
I will not hesitate to refer to other Health Professionals should I consider it is the best for your child.
2nd Appointment – Report of Findings
1.5 to 2 hours
4 weeks after Initial Appointment
It is not necessary for your child to be present at this and subsequent appointments, however he/she is always welcome. I will need to see your child every 6 months.
In this appointment you will receive the results of any testing that was done. I will review the test results in detail, explaining them in full so you understand what is happening and how your child is affected.
We will review how your child has responded during the last 4 weeks and what challenges you have faced. I’ll answer any questions you have. I will explain how to manage acute illnesses such as fevers, coughs and colds, as many of the common treatments will delay your child’s progress.
The main program will be explained and any concerns addressed. You will receive written instructions on what to do and explanations about why.
3rd Appointment – Follow Up
We will review how your child is responding to treatment, the improvements and the challenges you have faced. Adjustments to treatment will be made, tailored to what your child needs.
4th Appointment & Subsequent Follow ups
Follow up appointments are required every 8 weeks to monitor your child’s progress.
