Why Osteopathy?

Osteopaths are primary health care practitioners that are trained to treat all your muscular and joint aches and pains. Neck pain, headaches, back pain and sciatica are conditions that we treat on a daily basis as well as sporting injuries and pregnancy related back pain.

We have extensive knowledge and understanding regarding how the body moves and functions, having completed at least 5 years of full time university studies.

What to expect?

Osteopathic treatment is as individual as you are.it is tailored to your specific problem at the time of your consultation and will change as your level of pain and discomfort changes.

Our focus is for you to understand why your pain is there and what we both can do about it. Treatment is entirely ‘hands on’, and can involve the use of soft tissue techniques (massage, trigger point techniques or stretching), as well as specific joint techniques (manipulation and articulation).

Our Osteopaths

All of our team are registered Osteopaths and members of the Australian Osteopathic Association (AOA). All our osteopaths are highly trained in treating a variety of muscular and joint aches and pains and are available for consultation by appointment only. We treat people of all ages and abilities and are registered with third party insurers such as Worksafe, Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and Department of Veterans affairs (DVA).

Remedial Massage / Myotherapy

Kylie Rabjones is a qualified Remedial Massage Therapist and member of the Australian Association of Massage Therapies (AAMT). Kylie is also in the final stages of studying Myotherapy, and brings a wealth of knowledge to the clinic.

Remedial Massage Therapy uses an array of techniques (soft tissue manipulation, muscle energy techniques, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, cupping, stretching and therapeutic exercises) to target the soft tissues structures in the body in order to improve their function and your overall health. Remedial Massage is great for treating tight and achy muscles, relieving stress and tension, and for managing and treating sporting injuries. It is also a great way to relieve stress and tension.

Myotherapy offers a more detailed and comprehensive assessment and treatment of your pain and injury and enables Kylie to better understand the ‘mechanics’ of your body. Myotherapists are also trained to administer dry-needling, electro-mechanical stimulation, prescriptive stretches and exercises in conjunction with the traditional massage techniques described above . Kylie’s Myotherapy studies enables her treatment regime to be ‘more than just a massage’. We look forward to you discovering the wealth of benefits Remedial Massage and Myotherapy has at Back 2 Basics Health Care.

Initial consultations will firstly involve the taking of a medical history that is related to your area of pain or stiffness. Kylie will undertake a general assessment of your pain and mobility to allow her to determine what treatment is best for you. Her treatment modalities address the muscles, tendons, fascia, ligaments and joints within your painful area to ensure a systematic, yet comprehensive treatment is provided. She will offer advice, where appropriate in regards to posture or stretching to ensure you understand what management strategies may assist your recovery and general well being. Her treatment is entirely ‘hands on’ and treatment will run in a similar way to the Osteopathic consultations at the clinic. Initial consultations will be an hour in duration, and subsequent consultation will be 45 minutes. Private health fund rebates will be available for those who have appropriate ancillary cover.
