Tuina Massage

Tuina (pronounced “twee nah”) is a form of Oriental bodywork that has been used in China for centuries. Tuina uses the traditional Chinese medical theory of the flow of Qi through the meridians as its basic therapeutic orientation.

What Techniques Are Used?

A combination of massage, acupressure and other forms of body manipulation, Tuina works by applying pressure to accupoints, meridians and groups of muscles or nerves to remove blockages that prevent the free flow of Qi.

Benefits of Having a Tuina Massage

Removing these blockages restores the balance of Qi in the body, leading to improved health and vitality, allowing the body the naturally heal itself. There are a range of benefits that you can experience after using a Tuina Massage, with the most common including:
  • Reduces stress, tension and anxiety
  • Improves circulation
  • Increases oxygen capacity
  • Improve nutrition delivery to tissues
  • Reduce swelling
  • Enhances relaxation
  • Improves immune & nervous systems
  • Reduces pain
  • Improves sleep
  • Relaxes muscle spasms
  • Increases body awareness
  • Increases mobility & range of motion
  • Improves digestion and assimilation

Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient holistic healing technique to bring your body into a state of health and balance. Reflexology uses the combined ability of art and science saying that the reflexes in our feet are connected to the glands, organs and parts of our body. By stimulating the feet with the fingers and thumb in various firm motions, your reflexologist can help you recharge and heal your body.

Why Give Reflexology a Try?

Reflexology can help to cure and prevent many health problems without the use of drugs making it a safe and natural way to treat your body. Reflexology can:
  • Relax your muscles
  • Increase circulation
  • Reduce mental, physical and emotional tension
  • Relieve pain and stress
  • Detoxify the body
  • Reconnect the mind, body, and soul

What Conditions Can Be Treated With Reflexology?

It is commonly used to relieve headaches, anxiety, and digestive problems improving circulation and restoring the body’s natural balance. Some even begin to feel more intuitive after regular visits as they have more of a spiritual connection with their own bodies.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient Chinese therapy in which a cup is applied to the skin and the pressure in the cup is reduced (either by heat or suction) in order to draw and hold skin and superficial muscles inside the cup.

How Does Cupping Work?

Cupping is applied to certain acupuncture points as well as to parts of the body that have been affected by pain, where the pain is deeper than the tissues to be pulled. Cupping is based on the meridian theory of the body.

Benefits Of Having a Cupping Treatment

On one hand, cupping removes any stagnation in the body and opens the meridians so that qi can flow freely. On the other, it also helps to rejuvenate certain meridians and organs that are not functioning at their best. From a scientific standpoint, cupping is known to help activate the lymphatic system, promote blood circulation, and is good for deep tissue repair.

Gua Sha Treatments

Gua Sha is a healing technique used in Asia by practitioners of Traditional Medicine, in both the clinical setting and in homes, but little known in the West.

How Does It Work?

It involves palpation and cutaneous stimulation where the skin is pressured, in strokes, by a round-edged instrument; that results in the appearance of small red petechiae called ‘sha’, which will fade in 2 to 3 days.

Benefits of Having a Gua Sha Treatment

Raising Sha removes blood stagnation considered pathogenic, promoting normal circulation and metabolic processes. The patient experiences immediate relief from pain, stiffness, fever, chill, cough, nausea, and so on. Gua Sha is valuable in the prevention and treatment of acute infectious illness, upper respiratory and digestive problems, and many other acute or chronic disorders.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone Massage is a variation on classic massage therapy. Heated smooth, flat stones are placed on key points on the body. The massage therapist may also hold the stones and use them to massage certain areas of the body.

Why Should You try a Hot Stone Massage>?

Many people find the warmth of the hot stones to be comforting and get it for relaxation. Hot stone massage is suited to people who tend to feel chilly or who have cold feet. It’s also suited for people who have muscle tension but prefer a lighter massage.

The heat relaxes muscles, allowing the therapist to work the muscles without using deep pressure. People also get hot stone massage for a variety of health conditions:
  • Back pain and aches
  • Poor circulation

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the super-fine, hair-like needles go into specific points on the body in order to re-balance the regulatory systems of the body. For this reason, it can treat an extremely broad range of disorders.

What To Expect During a Treatment

An acupuncture treatment is rarely painful – sensations can vary from nothing to a slight tingle to a deep “pulling” sensation – and is usually both calming and relaxing. Japanese style needles are available too, which is as fine as you can’t feel it.
