Sports and Remedial Body Work - Remedial Massage
Release Your Pain and Live Well
Are you suffering from persistent neck, back or shoulder pain? Do your legs or buttocks ache after exercise or from being on your feet all day? Do you want a therapist who offers a solution to your pain problem?
If you answered ‘yes’ to these questions, then I am the therapist who you need to see.
My name is Terry Johnsen from Sports and Remedial Body Work, Wooloowin. I am dedicated to fixing your pain problem. Don’t let your body get you down; let’s release your pain and get your body working for you!
The service I provide is unique because I will give you a comprehensive assessment, a solution-focussed treatment, and therapeutic management strategies aimed to release your pain and keep you well without excessive ongoing treatment sessions.
About Your Treatment
Your treatment program will include initial and ongoing assessment along with a range of remedial massage techniques aimed to relieve your pain, and to improve the function of the affected tissues. I may not work on all areas that are painful. This is because muscles can ache from being weak or over stretched, and massaging these tissues may make the pain or condition worse.
In addition to massage, I may give you muscle strengthening or activation exercises, or tape the area to provide protection and support to promote healing.
Following your course of remedial therapy you should experience a greater range and improved quality of movement, and less pain.

“Terry, thanks for your massage treatments over the last few months. Your ‘big picture’ diagnostic approach and excellent massage skills have contributed greatly to my recovery from chronic lower back pain. I am now pain free and this has changed my life!”
Louise Lander, Hamilton
"I strongly recommend Terry as a Remedial Massage Therapist because his treatments greatly reduce my pain and discomfort. Not only do the treatments reduce the pain and discomfort but it also means that I feel emotionally and psychologically better too.
A friend suggested I see Terry because she found his treatment had helped her greatly. I had had months of pain and restriction following a car accident that affected my neck, lower back, thoracic spine and shoulder. I had tried every treatment and was pretty desperate. I had ongoing pain in my upper body and shoulder from the car accident, and I get massive relief and improvement after one of Terry’s treatments.
I had visited numerous specialists - physiotherapists, chiropractors, bowen therapists, and other masseurs, There is not one of the specialists and medical people I’ve seen since my car accident that has helped me more with pain relief and recovery from the car accident related injuries, than the treatment I have received, and continue to receive, from Terry.
Terry adjusts his treatment according to where I have the most pain and discomfort. Sometimes he does acupuncture dry needling, and often he fits strapping tape on my shoulder and back area. Both of these treatments are fantastic for me, especially the strapping tape.
I believe Terry’s training as a scientist shows through in his approach with his massage therapy treatment as he knows the body, and how it works, incredibly well. He was keen to understand the cause of my pain, and then he spoke with me about the treatment options he could do that would assist me. He keeps me well informed of what he is doing, and why he is doing any particular treatment.
Terry also contacts me a few days after each treatment to get feedback, and see how I am going and to check how beneficial the treatment has been.
My husband and family can actually see the benefit I get from Terry’s remedial massage therapy treatment, and benefit as my mood is also affected with the relief I get from Terry’s treatment (and therefore my husband’s mood too!). My husband also can tell when my body is in pain and tells me I to 'book in for another session with Terry'. We all know that I always sleep better the night I have a treatment from Terry."
