What Is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a science, which deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all the glands, organs and parts of the body. By stimulating these reflex points on the feet, hands, ears and face, we can help many health problems in a natural way, as it is a type of preventative maintenance.

Reflexologists believe that the body has it's own life force energy, which is capable of enhancing the immune system to increase the potential of healing from within the client.

How Does Reflexology Work?

In reflexology, a diagram of the human body is superimposed over a picture of the feet and hands, to create a specialised chart that is used to refer to organs of the body. It is from here, where we communicate in a specific way with one another for the purpose of bringing about a healing process.

Reflexology works as a system of communication between the practitioner and the client to bring about a state of homeostasis, harmony and balance. When massaging a clients feet, pressure is applied to various points of the feet. Attention is then being focused on the point of the body to which it refers, to allow the practitioners healing 'intent' to flow into action.

Benefits Of Reflexology

The list of benefits obtained from reflexology are the following:
  • It's non intrusive, and promotes internal balance or homeostasis
  • It improves circulation
  • It reduces stress, tension, and emotional blocks
  • It stimulates the bodies immune system and leaves a feeling of peace and well being
  • It can stimulate digestion and energy flow
  • It can calm and improve sleep
  • It is completely drug free, so there are no unwanted side effects
  • It helps to improve emotional blocks in the underlying patterns of being, so that it becomes necessary to manifest on disease
Remember, prevention is far better than the cure. So it can also boost the system to prevent disease or illness. It can help pin point areas of stress before they become physically apparent.

Why Try Reflexology?

Reflexology is a safe natural means of healing as it treats the person in a holistic way, taking the whole persons needs into consideration. It stimulates the persons own healing energy and is non intrusive and is compatible with all other healing techniques. Sometimes, however, the body may react at a physical level after treatment. All reactions must be regarded as being a positive outcome, because they are an indication of the changes being activated within.

What To Expect During a Session

A session takes from between 30 to 60 minutes and can vary depending on style and needs. You generally have between 4 to 6 weekly sessions to achieve good results. Of course this can be extended if required or used as a maintenance or relaxation treatment if necessary. More frequent sessions may be advisable for acute conditions.

Reiki & Siechem Treatments

Reiki, Siechem and all the others are a form of prayer as are spells, etc. You are working with the powers that be to which there is only one ultimate source. Feel guided by that light force and tune yourself into it till you synchronise your energies with it and you will be on the right track.

Kinesiology

In kinesiology structural muscle testing as a biofeedback mechanism is utilised. Pain is the final alarm before malfunction takes place. Just prior to the pain and malfunction, there are signs and symptoms which can be recognised. One of these is weakening of the muscles and a change in posture.

We must learn to feel and listen to what is going on in our bodies and be able to correct the minor problems before they develop into serious illness. Using kinesiology can help prevent malfunctions and pains developing, as well as correct the reason for the pain and allow the life force to flow uninterrupted throughout the body.

Meditation & Breathwork

Meditation is also a powerful ally, especially when trying to tune in and listen in the stillness that ensues and going with the bodies biorhythms and following the breath. Breath should be taught properly and also exercises to help the patient and practitioner help themselves to self heal and keep strong.

To breath in plateaus and to exercise in plateaus is very important. To know the contraindications and why they are so and what to do in the case of each is just as important in massage as it is in Reiki, especially when dealing with the mind. One must also be aware of enhancement of certain drugs during the process of performing energy work as well. Let’s be responsible and work as a team. Don’t let Ego get in the way.
