Welcome to Brace Yourself Foot and Ankle Clinic

Hello and welcome to the practice.

Today's podiatrist is a highly trained professional who receives education in the structure and biomechanics of the human body, the pathological basis of disease and the medical, surgical and physical pathways available to treat the lower limb when things go wrong.

Dr Richard Chasen is a friendly, experienced and highly qualified orthotist and podiatrist, dealing with all aspects of foot and ankle pathology from aches and pains through to clinical procedures.

At our clinic we see patients from all walks of life for a great variety of reasons. Perhaps you've had an injury whilst running over the weekend, or you've noticed a pain that wasn't there before...

The clinic is located at 558 Glenhuntly Road, Elsternwick (on the corner of Hoddle Street) and are directly accessible by tram, bus and a short walk from train services.

For an appointment, please telephone 9532-7455 or make one in person with the friendly reception staff.

Maybe you've had orthotic treatment in the past and they're now too small, or simply not performing as they once were... Or you have a painful ingrowing nail or your heel hurts when you get up in the morning... whatever the problem, you should feel comfortable that you're in safe and caring hands.

A brief history
We have been treating foot and ankle problems since 1997, at which time Brace Yourself was established with the aim of providing high quality orthotic treatment for the general public, in a private setting. Since that time, the original focus has specialised to include a specific grouping of areas.

We have always concentrated on a holistic, multi-disciplinary approach to the care of the patients we see and over the years we have built up a network of other professionals with whom we work closely to achieve the best possible outcome. This has been refined and additional services are now offered, including podiatry, injection therapy and minor surgery.

How is this practice different?
The overriding theme of our practice is one of continued development. This includes keeping abreast of the latest research, techniques, materials and technology and integrating them as appropriate. Due to the unique blend of qualifications obtained by the principal practitioner, Dr Richard Chasen, we are happily able to provide extensive expertise in more than one discipline and in particular, in biomechanics and orthotic treatment.

All orthoses are manufactured on site in a dedicated laboratory and are made by hand to the exact specifications of the patient's individual needs. This not only maintains control of the manufacturing process, but also allows for faster provision of the orthotic devices at a lower cost than many other practices as devices do not have to be sent away to a remote facility. We only use the best quality materials available and refusing to compromise this principle allows us to provide you with the most modern, appropriate care.

Clinical care is provided in a pleasant and modern environment where we do our best to address your individual needs and tailor a solution that fit your priorities in terms of pain relief, lifestyle requirements and budget.

We respect that your time has value. Patients are rarely kept waiting past their scheduled appointment time and consultations are never rushed or extended past the necessary amount of time needed to address your concerns. You should always feel comfortable that your needs will be listened to and screening questions when you make your first appointment help us to allocate the appropriate length of time for your consultation.
