Brigitte specialises in providing professional Buteyko Breathing sessions for people with asthma, allergies, sleep apnoea and related respiratory problems.
Sessions are also available for children with crooked or overcrowded teeth through Braceless Choice clinic.
The Buteyko Breathing Method (BBM) is a program that provides education on correct nasal breathing, supported by effective breathing exercises which are taught to individuals or in groups over 4-6 sessions.
It gained popularity in Australia in the early 1990’s due to its ability to allow asthmatics to reduce and control the frequency of their asthma symptoms. It may also be beneficial for the treatment of sleep apnoea, anxiety, rhinitis and respiratory problems other than asthma, and to correct mouth breathing in children with dental overcrowding (crooked teeth).
Buteyko techniques concentrate on relaxed, nasal, diaphragmatic breathing, with breath holding and progressive breathlessness resilience exercises. For them to be effective, they must be practised on a daily basis. No specific equipment is needed, and the exercises can be used anytime, anywhere!
Buteyko is used to help manage asthma symptoms.
Clients over the age of 16 are taught the Buteyko breathing exercises designed for adults. Adult classes differ from the ones for children and these classed are offered 1-on-1 or in small group settings. Classes consist of actually “doing” the exercises and goes over topics such as diet, hyperventilation triggers, medication, sleep, exercise, and recommended supplementation. Success is entirely dependent on your level of commitment and applying the skills and tools that you have learned.
I offer children's classes as well.
