Welcome to Catherine Taylor

Whether counseling you through all of your life’s concerns or through pain, grief or stress, I start helping you by listening to and understanding what matters to you.

I then tailor the counseling sessions to you as an individual as I know that all people are different, you require strategies that are best suited to your needs and personality.


Pain Management

“One in five Australians, including children and adolescents, will suffer chronic pain in their lifetime and up to 80 per cent of people living with chronic pain are missing out on treatment that could improve their health and quality of life”.

When you think of pain management, you most likely think of doctors, sports medicine, physiotherapy, chiropractors and other mainstream medical practitioners to help ease you pain. These practitioners play a very important role in your healing, however, you as a person with chronic pain may need the assistance of several health professionals to manage your pain. This is how I as a counselor can help you!

In addition to being a qualified counselor, I also have a Masters in Pain Management. Counseling for a person with chronic pain allows you to understand the link between your physical pain and your emotional experience of the pain in addition to learning strategies that you can use to manage and reduce the pain you experience.


Grief and Loss

Everyone in some way has experienced some level of grief and loss throughout their life and most of the time you can bounce back after a period of grieving.

However, there are some grief and loss situations which you might find you are struggling with and need compassion and care to work through. Some of the areas in which you may be experiencing grief and loss include but not limited to:

  • Death of a person

  • Death of a pet (this can be as traumatic as a death of a person)

  • Breakdown of a relationship such as a marriage ending

  • Health issues experienced by self or others

  • Miscarriage

  • Job loss

  • Financial concerns

  • Ending of a friendship

  • Trauma experienced by self or others

  • Behaviour of others, such as children
All of these issues can take time to work through and there is no right way to experience your grief. In addition to being a source of support, counseling can offer some you strategies to assist in your healing.


Stress

Life is full of stress which most of the time you are able to cope with.

Occasionally stressful situations arise which can be difficult to manage alone. These situations can include: work, personal, financial, social, health or in any aspect of your life. Counseling you through your stress involves focusing on two areas: the issue/s which are causing your stress; and lessening the symptoms and stress you are experiencing.
