Senior Yoga Teacher(Yoga Australia)
I have a Biomedical Science degree and am a Senior Yoga Teacher with Yoga Australia and have been involved in Complementary Health Education for 17 years.
My other qualifications encompass:
Nutrition and Dietetics
I have travelled and taught world-wide, established international health communities and founded yoga by donation programs. I established the Brookfield Retreat and co-founded YIMI- the Yoga and Integrative Medicine Institute.
“I have a deep commitment to the gentle unfolding of yoga on a world wide scale. I have seen it influence many people’s lives for the better, and I have personally benefited from its daily grounding guidance in my own life.
I hold very dear to my heart great people, education, social change and development.”
I am an advocate for the vast benefits people receive via Yoga Therapy and Meditation. I regularly liaise with the media, government, councils and higher educational institutions to promote the work of Yoga Teachers and Yoga Therapists Australia-wide. I’m currently the State Coordinator for Yoga Australia and a committee Member for the Australasian Association of Yoga Therapists.
My classes explore the deeper dimensions of yoga and touch on my two personal pillars of faith; Breath and Compassion.
To me, these things stand like stone.
“Kindness in another’s trouble and courage in one’s own”

"I really enjoyed yesterday and have felt so good since. I had such a wonderful time with my daughter last night and today have felt calm and happy. My hands tingle and I feel heat coming from my face and hands. I have been conscious of my breathing as well. Look forward to the next one."
- Chrissy L.
"Since starting Meditation with Celia, I feel more relaxed, balanced and in control of my thoughts on a daily basis. I never knew it was possible to achieve this state of mind. Having recently gone through a traumatic event, meditation has allowed me to deal with the problem, and ‘sort my head out’. I love going to Celias Meditation ½ day retreats especially, its such a warm, and pleasant environment, and I always feel happier, and peaceful when I leave. Thank You Celia."
- Jeanette Johnstone, Kenmore, Brisbane,Qld
"Hi Celia, Just wanted to say thank you for the knowledge and inspiration you shared yesterday at the retreat. I enjoyed it immensely and did such a lovely practice and meditation last night which was really enhanced by the retreat earlier in the day. I have been feeling fantastic today and I am teaching a class this afternoon and will be doing my own meditation this evening. So looking forward to it."
- Julie Gibbs
"Thank you, Celia! It was beautiful! A lovely reawakening and reminder for me… just what I needed."
- Susan Living
"Celia, thanks for an excellent workshop on Sat. The group meditations are so powerful and it was good to share experiences, especially yours. Many thanks,"
"Celia – This was the Emily Dickinson saying that came to my mind after the retreat 'To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else'.”
"Yoga is great and relaxing. It is also a time to have a laugh and test your limits. Cath, 39, architect.
Having not done yoga before, Celia’s classes have been such a great way to learn about yoga and I’ve found it beneficial in so many ways, from building strength and flexibility, to improving posture and an overall calmness in the body and mind. Celia helps students get the most out of every posture physically, as well as building awareness of the different energy channels and chakras that are being worked. Different areas or systems of the body are focused on each week which brings variety and which I’ve found interesting to learn about. Overall, I’ve really enjoyed these classes as a holistic body-mind exercise, and the lovely atmosphere Celia creates"
- Monika, 23, student
“Again thank you very much for your efforts and skill today, obviously I have had previous massages, however what I experienced today was amazing. I am still lost for the correct words to describe how wonderful it was, you truly are special person.”
"Dear Celia, I felt so relaxed and safe in your healing space. I loved the beautiful oils and letting my self receive some nurturing and it allowed the space to open up for healing. Thankyou."
