Traditional Childbirth Education classes

Each class is divided into 4 sessions, each session will be approx. 2 hours. Classes are held in a comfortable, informal setting in Innaloo (address will be provided when you make a booking)

Topics include:

  • Tips for late pregnancy

  • Tips for the birth partner

  • Information on inducing labour

  • Options for labour

  • Signs of labour (inc an explanation on what labour does and why)

  • Routine tests and procedures (and the evidence for them)

  • What to expect during the birth (inc tips on good positions)

  • Options for birthing the placenta

  • Initiating breastfeeding, the importance of skin to skin, the 'hour of power' and the '4th trimester'

I encourage you to ask as many questions as you want. Please keep in mind that this is information only - the decisions you make are yours and your partners. I cannot tell you what the best option is for you.

The 4 sessions will be divided up into similar topics (eg the first session is late pregnancy and early labour, the 2nd ‘established’ labour, etc). However, depending on the number of questions and how on topic we stay, some information may be rolled over into the next session. Therefore it is important that you plan to attend all 4 sessions. I will provide a handout with a very brief summary of the information covered at each session and
you are welcome to take notes.

It is up to you when you attend. Some couples prefer to do the classes early so that they can go away and do more research. Others prefer to do it closer the ‘big day’, so that the information still fresh. The only recommendation I make is that you complete the sessions by about 36weeks, to minimise the chance of baby arriving before you finish.

Current dates:

April – 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th

June/July – 19th, 26th, 3rd, 10th

August – 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th

October – 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th

December – 4th, 11th, 18th, 22nd (Friday)

I have had some people ask if I can do different days. Please contact me to register your interest if a different day would suit you better.

The classes are held in Innaloo and are $300/couple, payable 2 weeks before the 1st session (if you make a booking less than 2 weeks before first session payment will be required asap). I accept cash, direct deposit, and PayPal. Details on how to pay will be provided when you make your booking
