I began my private practice as a Clinical Hypnotherapist & Psychologist more than 15 years ago in 2000. I am currently situated in the Ninderry, the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast, in Queensland running my private practice.
My philosophy is the importance of not just assisting clients to achieve their therapeutic goals in therapy, but to also help them to achieve self-empowerment. This will largely involve claiming (or reclaiming) the power that is taken away from them as children or that they have let go of too other individuals or problematic situations or circumstances during their life.
There are a number of misconceptions and myths around hypnosis that may contribute towards apprehension for an individual who is looking into trying hypnotherapy for the very first time.
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is often and accurately described as an altered state of consciousness with narrowed focus of attention, similar to what people experience naturally when they are drifting into a daydream for a moment; or reaching a place and not being able to remember passing a specific landmark; or watching a movie, know it is not actually real, but still becomes drawn into the emotional experience.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Therapy that is conducted whilst a client is in a state of hypnosis. The conscious mind is calm and it is relaxed so you will not block any reasonable access to the subconscious mind where issues need to be targeted to achieve complete and effective resolution.
Who is in control?
You are always in control! The common misconception is that you can be made to do things against your will, this is completely untrue.
