- For Women:
Some of the more common causes of infertility in women are hormonal imbalances, poor blood circulation to the uterus and ovaries, low thyroid function, stress, endometriosis, and polycystic ovarian disease. Producing a baby places a huge demand on a woman's body, and so there must be plenty of stored nutrients in her body to start with.
Research conducted by the CSIRO showed that nutritional levels in our foods average about half of what they were 43 years ago, and so nutrient deficiencies are very common nowadays. In many cases, the body recognises that there are not enough nutrients available for both the mother and a baby, and so avoids becoming pregnant. Also, laboratory experiments with mice have shown that high stress levels decrease fertility rates dramatically, probably because the body interprets the stress as meaning that there are too many predators around. So using naturopathy to increase the levels of the right vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients, plus using vitamins and herbs to reduce the stress chemicals in the body, can boost fertility considerably.
Even if the woman's blood contains abundant nutrients, this will not help if the blood supply to the ovaries or uterus is sluggish (which it often is if the woman has any period symptoms). Acupuncture can be extremely helpful in these cases, and both acupuncture and naturopathy can also be used to correct hormone imbalances.
As many as one in five healthy young men between the ages of 18 and 25 produce abnormal sperm counts. Even the sperm they do produce is often of poor quality. In fact only 5 to15 per cent of their sperm is, on average, good enough to be classed as "normal" strict World Health Organisation guideleines- and these are young, healthy men! By contrast, more than 90 per cent of the sperm of a domestic bull or ram, or even laboratory rat, are normal. Some time ago. Professor Niels Skakkebaek of the University of Copenhagen presented data showing that sperm counts had fallen by about a half over the past 50 years. However, sperm counts have remained at normal levels in areas where the diet consists almost entirely of organic food, showing that poor nutritional levels and/or chemicals in our foods are likely causes. (Zinc levels are especially crucial in men.)
The chance of conceiving in an IVF cycle is on average around 28 per cent (but varies due to individual circumstances). Our acupuncture and naturopathy treatments both have success rates of over 50%, and in combination the rate is over 65%. If you are trying to conceive, or are looking to start trying in the next 12 months, we strongly recommend that you have a Comprehensive Fertility Assessment by our head therapist Peter Mills. He will check your nutrient levels, hormone balance, stress levels, thyroid function, toxicity levels, how well the ovaries and uterus are functioning, any inflammation or circulation problems for these organs, and any other factors that may be impacting on your fertility. There is absolutely no obligation whatsoever attached to your assessment.
If you have a house on stumps and you are getting cracks in the walls, there is no point just fixing the cracks, you need to sort out the stumps as well. The same with your body to get effective results, we determine why your body is not working correctly so that we can treat the causes of the problem, not just the symptoms. With our specialised diagnostic equipment, extensive training from some of the top experts in Australia and overseas, and over 60 years combined experience, we can let you know what is happening with your fertility, what has caused the problem, and what can be done to improve it.
"Who would have thought 6 months ago when I arrived for fertility support that I would now be 5 months pregnant with healthy twin boys! What a turnaround! A huge heartfelt thanks."
