With the business of life, it is often difficult to find time to speak face to face with a counsellor, and I am very happy to have a consultation with you over the phone. This option is a good option if you happen to live in a small community and are concerned about confidentiality.
For those clients who have private health cover, we can now offer rebates through Bupa. Police Health, Doctors Health and Medibank Private.
If my partner does not want to attend, can I come on my own?
Yes definitely. You are able to identify your needs, and set your own goals.
How many sessions do I have to attend?
This varies according to the problem and is often determined by the success of the counselling relationship.
Do I need a doctor’s referral to see you?
No you can make an appointment directly with us
Can I see a counsellor if I have a Mental Health Plan.
No, you would have to see a psychologist or psychiatrist.
Why would I see a counsellor?
Counsellors work with everyday issues and stressors including grief and loss, and mild anxiety and depression and provide strategies to help and support the client to try to solve the presenting issue. They focus on the client/s in a supportive environment and do not diagnose mental health disorders. It is important to check with the Australian Counselling Association to check that a counsellor is registered. Some counsellors are now able to offer rebates through selected private health funds.
