About PACT

In 2000, the Pacific Association of Craniosacral Therapists (PACT) was formed to support and promote the growing number of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapists in New Zealand, Australia and Asia.

The Association is committed to:

  • Raising awareness about Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy
  • Assist members with their ongoing professional development
  • Foster quality education in the field of biodynamic craniosacral therapy
  • Establish standards for Craniosacral Therapists and the practice of Craniosacral Therapy
  • Develop and enforce the Association’s Code of Ethics and Practice
  • Establish an information centre for public and professional dissemination of information about Craniosacral Therapy, its standard of practice, and its practitioners.

What is Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)?

A body/mind therapy, BCST is a blend of scientific understanding of the body and mindfulness skills, unique touch techniques and an appreciation for how the body can heal itself.

Among the fundamental principles of BCST is that health is inherent to everyone. It is possible to lose sight of the underlying feelings of health, comfort, and ease when the focus is on illness, pain, or pathology. With BCST, you can reconnect with these feelings.

Biodynamic Touch

Biodynamic touch is a particular type of touch that is light and reverent. It is never invasive, manipulative, or aggressive. Being touched in this way makes you feel safe, supported, and held.

In therapy, you can expect your therapist to create a calm, still and embodied presence. Having a sense of safety allows your brain to switch from flight or fight to rest and repair. During this time, your body can begin to heal and change.

What Makes BCST Different?
  • A BCST treatment is gentle, non-invasive, and does not involve any force or manipulation
  • A client-driven therapy, the pace of treatment is determined by you and your body’s needs
  • In BCST, all aspects of a person’s health are interconnected-mental, physical, spiritual
  • A key component of the therapy is understanding the body's ability to heal and facilitate self-repair
  • Clients report feeling deeply understood and listened to on all levels
  • As a progressive therapy, BCST incorporates the latest developments in medical science and the wisdom of traditional healing traditions
  • Using biodynamic touch to stimulate the brain is powerful for making new connections
