About CrossFit Origin

“Crossfit Origin is more than a gym. We are a community, a support network, a safe and friendly environment where our coaches will help you achieve things you never thought possible – both physically and mentally, and our members will have your back every step of the way.

Hi! Nice to meet you. Our names are Sean and Kaitlyn and we are the proud owners of Crossfit Origin.

Our story is a real Crossfit fairytale. We met on the local Crossfit circuit, both training and competing together in Newcastle and the Central Coast. We were both right into Crossfit with our lives revolving around competing and coaching. In early 2015 we purchased Crossfit Origin at Thornton together, a well-respected box and one of the first in the Hunter region. Sean took a voluntary redundancy, moved to Newcastle, became the Head Coach at Origin and qualified for Regionals, all within the space of a few months.

Since then we have grown our Origin family and have just upsized and moved to Beresfield! We are proud of our community that now also caters for kids and teens classes and to have created an environment where the whole family can train!”

Classes

CrossFit

60 minute instructor-led Crossfit session. This involves a specific warmup and cool down, explanation and demonstrations of the movements and the Workout of the Day (WOD). The WOD can be any variation of weightlifting, gymnastics and metabolic conditioning as well as some accessory work.

FREE Intro

The Free Group Intro Class will answer all your questions and uncertainties about what CrossFit is and how it is achievable and scalable for all fitness levels. We keep this session small so that we can assess your movement and finish with a Crossfit workout.

Intro 2 (Elements)

The second introductory session goes a little deeper into some of the more technical barbell and gymnastics aspects and is again done as a small group or one-on- one to allow us to assess your individual movement. We break down the Olympic Lifts and focus on safe positioning and building your confidence. We also introduce progressions for body weight movements such as pull-ups and toes to bar. We place a lot of emphasis on building up to high-level skills and developing proper mechanics. This elements class will give you a better understanding of how people of varying experience and skill levels can participate safely in classes together and give you the confidence you need to get started.

Kids

The CrossFit Kids program, first and foremost, provides individuals with a portion of their prescribed physical activity in a fun and engaging format. The goals of the CrossFit Kids program however, are more far reaching in the short as well as the long term. For example, one intent is to have children learn the points of performance of foundational movements that have universal application; developing motor recruitment pathways, ensuring safe and efficient movement now as well as into the future. Along the way, what they do and how they feel because of it will provide them a definition of what fitness is and means to them. In addition, layering information about food into the program leads to an understanding of and a mechanism for to adhere to a healthier lifestyle. CrossFit Kids classes also provide an opportunity to hone life skills such as perseverance and working hard, acknowledging personal responsibility, accepting feedback, working with others, following rules, and exhibiting etiquette.

We currently offer kids classes for 2 different levels with beginner level children (ages 5-8) on Tuesdays and more experienced/slightly older (8-12) kids on Thursday afternoons at 3:45pm (45minutes). For more information on our Kids program please call Kaitlyn on 0423 310 973 or send us through an email at info@crossfitorigin.com.au

Origin’s Teens class offers adolescents a chance to exercise alongside their peers, whilst providing them with a portion of their prescribed physical activity in a fun and engaging format.
