Hypnosis
Hypnosis has a long, dignified and successful history of helping people change a personally destructive habit into a personally creative and healthy habit. Examples of these are quitting smoking and losing weight. Unfortunately many people still associate the serious work of the hypnotherapist with the entertaining work of the stage hypnotist who gets people to engage in activities for the entertainment of the audience. While this is serious and highly skilful work it has affected people’s perception of hypnotists and what to expect from the hypnotist who will assist them to achieve a healthier and more enjoyable life for themselves.

Current evidence shows people wishing to Quit Smoking can take up to 6 or, occasionally, more attempts to give up. The first real secret for the client being able to Quit Smoking is encapsulated in how willing they are to give up the habit. The more willing and determined the client is to Quit Smoking the easier it is to successfully break the habit and maintain the new non-smoking habit. The second secret to enable a client to Quit Smoking is the belief the Hypnotist has in their personal skill and capacity to ensure the client will Quit Smoking.

Lose All the Weight You Don’t Want
Weight loss is a complex process. It’s not about fat genes. It’s not about too much fat, too many carbohydrates, too little exercise or anything else people use to tell themselves it is too hard to lose weight, or their goal weight is out their reach, or out of their control or about the right diets and on and on and on and on.

Most people who focus on losing weight get their mind fixated on FAT so they look for FAT free products, or the least amount of FAT in a product. For people trying to lose weight this is a double whammy. Whammy one is concerned with flavour. Ask any chef and they will tell you FAT = FLAVOUR. While reducing the amount of fat in a product sugar has to be added to give flavour. Sugar is a fattening agent and, even worse, addictive. When sugar is added to any food product consumers eat 25% more of the product. Food manufacturers know this and this is why there is sugar in manufactured food products. Whammy two is mental focus. The individual focuses only on one word: FAT.

What the mind focuses on the body creates.

If you constantly emphasis FAT, even if it is FAT free, the only word you constantly reinforce is FAT. The way your body will respond to that constant focus on FAT free is to create FREE FAT ON you.

Excess weight IS a complex process. The building blocks were in place before the weight started going on: reduced digestion, reduced assimilation: ineffective elimination; substituting food for genuine care, a variety of fears, a variety of reinforcing sad events. The list is as long and individual as the number of people who carry excess weight.

Because of the complexity, the principle requirements for those who seriously want to lose weight, instead of just talking about losing weight, or unconsciously sabotaging their efforts are PATIENCE and PERSISTENCE. You have to be willing to ‘be in it for the long haul’ as the cliché goes or to adopt the attitude using whatever variation of ‘when the going gets tough…the tough get going’ because there are rarely any quick fixes. Some manage…most don’t. The weight easily goes back on when the diet is over, and the same process repeats with discouraging regularity. This is because only one part of the complex is tackled: behavioural; i.e. food and, possibly, exercise.


The required changes are both internal and external. External changes are chosen behavioural changes: food and exercise. Internal changes are emotional and decisional. These are not as scary as many people imagine: most of the time they are a lot of fun to resolve with the added benefit of more energy, better self image, life becomes more fun and enjoyable, all relationships become healthier, more productive and satisfying and there’s more.

Recent research understanding this complexity recognizes long term support is required. The long term support is required because the long term resolution is not achieved just through behavioural change.

With all this in mind I have developed a programme to cover all the necessary areas to achieve long term success.

Obviously it is multi-faceted and all areas need to be attended to, not necessarily simultaneously. This will not be as ominous or difficult as it sounds. In fact it will always be fun, rewarding and enriching.
