What Is Bowen Therapy?
Bowen therapy is an amazing, gentle, effective Australian bodywork therapy. Bowen Therapy was developed by Tom Bowen in Geelong in the 1950s.
A Bowen treatment consists of gentle, yet powerful, movements on muscle and connective tissue. There are frequent but very essential pauses throughout the session that allows the body time to respond and begin the healing process. Bowen can target a specific problem or address the body as a whole.
Why Try Bowen Therapy?
Working at a physical as well as a cellular level, the gentle manipulation of the muscles and fascia helps to facilitate rehydration of the cells, calm the nervous system, release tight muscles and detoxify and rebalance the body.
Bowen Therapy is extremely gentle and is considered appropriate for anyone from pregnant women to newborn babies, the frail and the elderly. Whether you want to treat a particular problem or simply relax, Bowen Therapy will help!
Conditions That Can Be Treated
It can assist recovery from many conditions, from traumatic injury to chronic illness, depending upon each individualís capacity to heal. The technique should be considered for:

Massaging a person with cancer or has a history of cancer, needs to be given by a trained therapist.
Research has dispelled old beliefs and shows that comfort oriented massage does not contribute to the spread of cancer rather that cancer is a result of changes to a cellís DNA and other processes in the body.
Fortunately, that now allows for caring, comforting and support for cancer patients, people at the end of life and cancer survivors.
Who Can Benefit From an Oncology Massage?
Oncology massage is for people facing this life altering health challenge they can rest, feel safe and be nurtured in a private space, where they can actually let it all go and not have to put on a brave face.
While massage is not a cure for cancer, it may help reduce some of the side effects of its treatments. With the right adjustments everyone with cancer can receive the benefits.
Symptoms That Can Be Treated
For the person receiving treatment for cancer, massage can take on other meanings. Instead of massage being used to remove knots, detox or help with range of motion it can help with reduction of pain, nausea and anxiety, stimulates circulation and the lymphatic system, and reduces edema as well as promoting sleep and relaxation.
