....Sometimes it is necessary to reteach a thing its loveliness....
Until it flowers again from within....
-Galway Kinnell
I am a Gestalt Therapist and from my 24 years of experience, I have been involved in several programs dedicated to supporting people who have lived with addiction. I was instrumental in founding the first support group for adult children and partners impacted by their childhood experiences of living with an alcoholic and was a support person for many of the members of these groups.
Through these programs, I have found that it is building a relationship based on mutual trust and safety that allows the holistic healing of the mind, body, and spirit to unfold—and this is the therapeutic space I create for our work together. Treating and healing from relationship trauma is a process.
HOW I MAY HELP YOU
I provide a safe, confidential and supportive environment for individuals of all ages, couples, and families who are ready to explore the most challenging period of their relationships.
I believe that with the right approach, positive change can happen; and I will work alongside you to facilitate this change. I aim to provide understanding, build self-awareness for new insights and a greater sense of self-acceptance.
Therapy can be the turning point in reaching a resolution and enhancing growth.
I am interested in :
• Relationship problems
• Grief and loss
• Sexual abuse
• Identity and self- esteem
• Trauma and post-traumatic stress
• Depression and anxiety
• Addiction
• Family history issues
• Inner child
SPECIAL AREAS OF INTEREST
I am interested in working with families affected by alcohol and all addictions, focusing on partners and adult children of alcoholics, as I believe my experience in this area gives me an affinity with these particular challenges.
I have more than 20 years’ experience in supporting 12-step work. I understand how the brain responds to trauma, how people hold trauma in their body and how therapy can release it. Most important is the effective connection between client and therapist.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME
Having had a number of different career paths in my life thus far, including owning my own business and having various management roles within sales, customer service and working with people, I have found that working closely with people has always been something I have thoroughly enjoyed and thrived on. This inspired me to utilise my skills and put them into practice in a way that would allow me to engage with people even more, which is why I decided to do my Masters in Gestalt Therapy and I am very happy with my decision.
