How does Hypnosis work?

Hypnosis is believed to alter our consciousness in such a way that the analytical left-hand side of the brain is switched off, whilst the non-analytical right-hand side of the brain becomes heightened. Your conscious control is restricted, and your subconscious mind is stimulated. As your subconscious mind is a more profound, more instinctive force than your conscious mind, this is the area that needs to be changed to affect the client’s physical state.

For example, a client who is consciously looking to overcome their fear of snakes may try everything they consciously can do but will ultimately come up short because their subconscious mind retains this fear and stops the client from succeeding. True progress is made when reprogramming and transforming the subconscious mind.

Common misconceptions that when under hypnosis you can be made to do things against your will are false. Clients remain completely aware of their situation and surroundings and are not vulnerable in any way.
