Tapping Anxiety Emotions Dialogue Joy Happiness

We all have the same potential to experience joy and inner bliss. We also have the ability to heal and transform those parts of ourself that prevent us from experiencing inner peace and true, lasting happiness. When you find yourself as an individual, you begin to live your dreams and fulfil your highest potential. If you are unhappy and find it difficult to live a full and meaningful life, then psychotherapy can help. Whether you are dealing with difficult relationship or work situations, depression, anxiety or other mental or spiritual health related issues, I offer a creative, client centered and holistic approach to assist you on your journey to unlocking your full potential and inner joy.

Follow your bliss- Creative Psychotherapy for Individuals
Creativity is fundamental to being alive. For centuries, art has been used as a form of communication that allows us to speak that which is beyond words and to know the unknowable. Doing art- whether painting, drawing, music, dance, writing is in itself therapeutic and can contribute immeasurably to psychological well-being. In a therapeutic context, art allows us to create a dialogue between the inner world and outer expression. Mind, body, heart and soul are exquisitely intertwined and creative arts based techniques offer holistic pathways to explore the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual dimensions of human experience.

I offer person-centered, creative psychotherapy sessions that are a sacred, non judgemental space for you to focus your attention on your inner world and peel away the layers that stop you from experiencing inner bliss. Sessions may include a combination of creative expression through art making, movement, meditation, journalling, and other techniques to explore the true nature of the issues. We embark on a journey to find the answers you seek by tapping into the innate wisdom of the body and your higher Self.

About Me

I first came to Australia with a passion to explore the therapeutic potential of movement having spent many years in the performance industry as a choreographer and dancer in India. My work at the time consisted of every possible context of dance in entertainment and afforded me numerous opportunities to experience first hand the power of the arts and specifically dance to transform and heal. Like the chicken and egg question, I used to wonder whether the way I moved changed as a result of some inner shift or vice versa.

The Graduation Diploma in Dance Movement Therapy, deepened my understanding of the meaning of movement. I discovered how body, mind, emotion, psyche and spirit are inextricably linked and how movement can engage them all in a harmonious symphony of brain and body activity. I learnt how one could engage in a conversation without words, that the body never lies, that the way we move and hold our bodies tells a story without omission or artifice. Even though we may verbally express otherwise, the body is the true barometer of the inner workings of the psyche and faithfully represents this symbolically in movement and shapes. It's not a coincidence that it is impossible into leap into the air with abandon if we do not trust that we will land safely. Trust is as essential to a leap as bending your knees and pushing off the ground.

As I reclaimed the symbolic world of metaphor and meaning, I developed a fascination for the expressive arts and their ability to not only provide limitless possibilities for human expression, but to somehow connect us to something greater than ourself- something that feels infinite and boundless and close to the divine. The Diploma of Transpersonal Art Therapy provided a language to describe these and other states of consciousness like meditation, depression, art making, ecstatic states, anxiety and joy. The symbolic language of visual imagery was not new to me. Working with images seemed a natural extension of finding meaning in movement except here we are looking at actual drawings and forms produced by the client within a therapeutic context. The Transpersonal model is an awareness based approach that draws on ancient spiritual traditions and contemporary concepts of consciousness.

Over the years, the transformational nature of both these modalities- dance/ movement psychotherapy and art therapy has reinforced the importance of creative expression and its' ability to not only provide a window into the psyche but to assist in bringing about transformation, change and healing. By expanding our awareness, we gain new perspectives, shift our perceptions and are able to consciously choose and embrace life.

I am passionate about working with people on a deep level to facilitate greater awareness, new insights, transformation and healing. I believe that in every situation in life, there is something to learn about ourself or some life lesson waiting to be brought into awareness. When we expand our awareness to include these lessons carried by the people and events that arise in our lives, we are no longer victims of circumstance and cannot be held prisoner by negative thoughts or emotions. We gain a deeper connection with our thoughts, emotions, feelings and actions and brings these into harmonious alignment. We connect to our inner strength so that we may live life with grace and a sense of inner peace.
