Somatic Psychotherapy enables you to address deep seated concerns that take time to explore.
Psychotherapy offers the opportunity to soothe anger and distress, celebrate joys and achievements, unravel shame, make space for grief, help build tolerance for changing states of being, enhance resilience and the ability to trust and engage with others.
In Somatic Psychotherapy, thought, emotion and body awareness are experience as inter-connected aspects of the person's whole being. It can improve body awareness, relieve stress, balance the nervous system, mobilise posture and help clients develop a sense of vitality, aliveness and movement.
Somatic Psychotherapy is a comprehensive and holistic approach to personal growth and development.
Using somatic techniques as the means for exploration, the client is able to experience where spontaneity, creativity and deliberateness flow throughout his or her body and where flow might be suppressed.
This approach acknowledges that the processes of the body/mind not only affect and reflect each other, but are inter-functioning aspects of a person's whole being, and that each person's individual experiences and reactions are inextricably interconnected.
Somatic psychotherapy can improve body awareness, relieve stress, balance the nervous system, mobilise posture and help clients develop a sense of vitality, aliveness and movement.
What should I expect in a session?
You can expect to be treated with empathy and respect and to be supported while you explore your concerns, worries, fears and distress .
Sue and her client explore issues of concern and how this is expressed in everyday life; in relationships and how it is expressed in the body.
Sue's clients gain greater understanding of what in their lives triggers their behaviours and how they can better manage these situations - without blame or fear - to gain more of what they desire in their lives - to understand their issues and individual needs in an empathetic and caring environment. She offers support for Trauma, Loss and Grief, Relationship Issues and personal empowerment.
Consultations are usually at least once a week and last for 50 minutes. Psychotherapy is usually undertaken as a medium to longer term therapy.

Kinesiology / muscle monitoring enables the client to understand their patterns of behaviour and with this insight, effectively make positive new choices and changes.
