INFANT MASSAGE INSTRUCTION

Why Infant Massage
The benefits of massage are phenomenal. Touch to a baby is EQUALLY as important as food. Massage can assist with: colic, sleep, eczema, reflux, asthma, constipation. Massage aides cognitive and motor development, it speeds the process of nerve myelination. It boosts the immune system, digestion, respiratory development and serotonin levels. It also helps new mothers with Post Natal Depression – boosting mood and self-esteem in the parent or carer giving the massage.

Seriously, what is not to love?

Why do a Workshop?
There are a few reasons it is important to learn infant massage techniques from a trained instructor.

Firstly, permission sequences are taught so that children can learn from a very young age they have control over who touches their body – what a gift to give your child!

You will learn important information about when it is ok to use essential oils, what type of massage oils you can use on your baby, and even what time of day is best for massage (which is NOT at bath-time for children under 5 months!)

A Word on Dads
A new baby generally breast feeds and has a special bond with mum. Some dads feel a bit left out or at a loss how they can help. Infant massage is a great way to give dads a specific task in the daily routine that is incredibly valuable. Dads that learn massage find that they feel they have a better connection with their child, and are better able to understand the baby’s subtle communications and body language.

Just Infants?
Massage is fantastic for kids of any age (recommended from birth to adolescence!) and we can teach fun games to do with older kids as well.

Course Structure
To cover all the materials in a complete course we need to do a series of 4 weeks, 1hr per week. This allows you to go home, practice and then return with questions and a chance to review. I am happy to coordinate private sessions or an abridged version for a mothers’ group or similar. Please get in touch and we can tailor a course for your unique situation.
