About The Teacher

In 2003 Gabriela started taking yoga classes at Indra Devi Foundation (early disciple of Sri Tirumalai Krishnamachar http://www.fundacion-indra-devi.org) in Argentina. After the first year she travelled to India and stayed at Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s ashram in Puttaparthi learning and experiencing human values. She continued learning yoga for 3 other years at the foundation. In July 2004 took a course in Transcendental Meditation and investigated about other meditation techniques. She went again to India in summer 2005 and 2009 to stay at the same ashram. During those years she also took courses in Reiki level 1, Ayurvedic Massages, Ceiling to Desires and Education in Human Values, while investigating about Indian philosophy, spiritual leaders and teachers.

In 2007 took an annual course to become a yoga instructor with Rafael Pros, one of Indra Devi’s disciples (www.yogapros.com.ar). Gabriela became a Yoga Instructor in December 2007 after 5 full years of practice. She's member of Yoga Teachers Association of Australia. Reiki level 2 in 2009.

She moved to Australia and validated her yoga degree with Yoga Australia, becoming a member. Since then Gabriela has been teaching yoga in Gladstone, took Reiki Level 2 and finished a  Diploma of Classical Yoga through ACCY (http://www.classicalyoga.com.au/) which has 843 hours of training on yoga anatomy, yoga philosophy and meditation. Namaste.

What is Yoga?

The practice of Yoga does not only focus on physical postures to improve the body, but deals with all the aspects of our being and our lives. Patanjali who is considered the father of Modern Yoga compiled 195 aphorisms which are called the Yoga Sutra. In the Yoga Sutra, he described the eight aspects of a Yogic Lifestyle and called it the Eight Limbs of Yoga. The limbs are practical guides to a person's personal development to achieve the harmony of the mind, the body and the spirit which leads to Samadhi or enlightenment.

The practice of Yoga does not only deal with developing the body but also covers all the aspect of a person's life as stated in the Eight Limbs of Yoga. It is concerned about the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of an individual as well as his environment and relationship with other creatures. Real practice of these eight principles leads to deeper self-knowledge, love and respect towards other people and creatures, cleaner environment, healthy diet, and union with the Divine.

Classes

Gentle Yoga: is a mellow yoga class, easy to follow and slow pace which makes it ideal for seniors, prenatal and postnatal mums, beginners, less fit or very tight, or even those who are simply looking for a more relaxed workout.

Intermediate level: is a faster pace class ideal for people with a fidgety mind, yoga practitioners who want some challenge, fit people who want to remain fit. You can expect some flow in the practice. Classes are adapted to whoever is in class. I'll suggest challenging poses if they are benefitial for you.

General Class: this is an All Levels class, so you will find beginners and advanced practising together as a group. The class is adapted to whoever is in class and the energy level of the group. So sometimes is a bit easier and sometimes a bit harder. Never the same because we don't feel the same way all the time and so is our yoga practice. You can expect starting with some seated limbering excerices, then some dynamic sequence to warm up the body, then poses in supine and prone position, then seated poses to finish, then relaxation. Sometimes breathing exercises and meditation. Always providing variations to suit your personal needs, encouraging listening to your own body, finding your balance, increasing strength, flexibility, and calmness.
